Notice of Making an Order

Highways Act 1980 and Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981

WSCC (Public Footpath 2475 Thakeham) Public Path Diversion and Definitive Map and Statement Modification Order 2025

The above Order made on the 07 October 2025 under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980 and Section 53A(2) Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 will divert part of public footpath 2475 in the Parish of Thakeham and modify the Definitive Map and Statement for Chanctonbury.

The effect of the order is to divert part of footpath 2475 in the parish of Thakeham from its junction with the public highway, Crays Lane (grid ref 511331, 117832) which continues northwest for approximately 30M before heading southwest and substituting this with a new length of path commencing approximately 112M south west of its original junction on Crays Lane (grid ref 511284, 117735) and continuing north west for approximately 91M to reach the existing length of path as shown between points C and D on the Order plan.

A copy of the Order and the Order plan have been placed and may be seen free of charge at the offices of WSCC, County Hall, West Street, Chichester, PO19 1RQ Mondays to Fridays between 0900 hours and 1600 hours OR BY visiting the County Council website at www.westsussex.gov.uk and searching rights of way notices. A copy of the Order and Map may be purchased from the Council at the cost of £6.

Any legal representations about or objections to the Order may be sent in writing to Public Rights of Way, 1st Floor Northleigh Tower Street Chichester PO19 1RH (Ref 3949183_2475_ADy) or PROW@westsussex.gov.uk not later than the 13 November 2025. Please state the grounds on which they are made. Please note that any representations or objections to this Order will be kept on a file that is open to the public and while personal details will be omitted on request, they will become publicly available if and when the Order is sent to the Secretary of State. If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the WSCC may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for confirmation any representations and objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
