What is happening?

THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

PROHIBITION OF COMMERCIAL VEHICLES OVER 7.5 TONNES (PARISH OF WALTHAM AND THORPE ARNOLD) (NORTHERN DIVISION) ORDER 1990 (AMENDMENT 34)

(VARIOUS ROADS, MELTON MOWBRAY, BOROUGH OF MELTON) ORDER 202

THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL hereby gives notice that it proposes to make an Order under Sections 5, 81, 82(2), 83(2), 84, and Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act, the effect of which will be: 

To revoke the 7.5T weight restriction on Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray – Roundabout junction of Scalford Road and the North East Melton Mowbray Distributor Road (NEMMDR) including the circulatory carriageway.

To impose a 7.5T weight restriction on Burton Road, Burton Street, Church Street, Goodriche Street, Leicester Street, Melton Spinney Road, Park Lane, Rutland Street, Saxby Road, Sherrard Street and Thorpe End, Melton Mowbray and all roads within a zone bounded by Thorpe End from its junction with Saxby Road to its junction with Sherrard Street, Sherrard Street from its junction with Thorpe End to its junction with Burton Street, Burton Street from its junction with Thorpe End to its junction with Burton Road, Burton Road from its junction with Burton Street to its junction with A606 NEMMDR roundabout, A606 NEMMDR roundabout junction with Burton Road to its roundabout junction with Saxby Road and Saxby Road from its junction with A606 NEMMDR roundabout to its junction with Thorpe End.

A copy of the proposed Order, together with a plan illustrating the proposals and an explanatory statement giving the Council’s reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected during normal office hours at my offices, Room 200, County Hall, Glenfield, Leicester LE3 8RA and at the offices of Melton Borough Council, Burton Street, Melton Mowbray LE13 1GH and on the notice boards of Waltham & Thorpe Arnold Parish Council.

Objections to the proposals, specifying the grounds on which they are made, should be sent in writing to the undersigned by not later 6th November 2025, quoting reference KJ/HTWMT/6030. To impose a 30mph speed limit on part of Melton Spinney Road, Melton Mowbray

To impose a Restricted Road on part of Burton Road, Melton Mowbray

To impose a 40mph speed limit on parts of A606 Nottingham Road, A606 NEMMDR, A606 Burton Road, Burton Road, Leighton Road, Melton Spinney Road, Nottingham Road, Scalford Road, St Bartholomew’s Way and Thorpe Road, Melton Mowbray, A606 NEMMDR and A607 Waltham Road, Thorpe Arnold and A606 Melton Road, Burton Lazars

To impose a 50mph speed limit on parts of A606 Nottingham Road, A606 NEMMDR, B676 Saxby Road, Saxby Road and Scalford Road, Melton Mowbray, Melton Road, Scalford, B676 Saxby Road, Melton Mowbray, Brentingby, Wyfordby, Freeby and Saxby
