A631 Trunk Road (Tinsley Viaduct) - Temporary Restriction and Prohibition of Traffic and Pedestrians

SECTION 14
THE A631 TRUNK ROAD (TINSLEY VIADUCT)
(TEMPORARY RESTRICTION AND PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS)

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that National Highways Limited intends to make an order on the A631 Trunk Road, in the District of Sheffield, to enable refurbishment of bridge joint and associated works to be carried out in safety. The works are expected to start at 8pm on 10 November 2025 for 8.5 months, or until completed.

The effect of the Order will be, between 8pm and 6am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday nights, and between 8pm and 10am on Saturday nights, at times during the works, to:

(i)   impose a temporary 30mph speed restriction on the A631 temporary northbound carriageway and temporary southbound carriageway from its junction with Tinsley Roundabout to its junction with Meadowhall

Road Roundabout, a distance of 989 metres;

(ii)  close the A631 northbound carriageway and southbound carriageway from its junction with Tinsley Roundabout to its junction with Meadowhall Road Roundabout, a distance of approximately 1008 metres. During closures traffic will be diverted onto the temporary northbound carriageway and temporary southbound carriageway as described in (i); and

(iii) prohibit pedestrians from entering or proceeding in the footways adjacent to the above carriageway as described in (ii).

During the works suitably signed alternative routes will be available.

Traffic signs will indicate the extent of the restrictions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or special forces vehicles) and prohibitions (which will not apply to emergency service vehicles or vehicles being used in connection with the said works, to anyone engaged in the said works, or for winter maintenance or traffic officer purposes). The Order comes into force on 9 November 2025 and has a maximum duration of eighteen months.
