The London Borough of Southwark (Prescribed routes) (Friern Road) (No. *) Traffic Order 202*
1. Southwark Council hereby GIVES NOTICE that it proposes to make the above Orders under sections 6 and 124 of and Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.
2. The effects of the (Pedestrian and cycle zones) Orders would be to:-
(a) to extend an existing ‘School Street’ timed pedestrian and cycle zone in the vicinity Goodrich Community Primary School in which all motor vehicles except ‘SC8’ permit holders would be prohibited from entering or proceeding within the existing ‘school street’ (operating between the part of DUNSTANS ROAD which lies between the south-western kerb-line of Goodrich Road and a point 6.5 metres north-east of the north-eastern kerb-line of Mount Adon Park) and also (i) in that part of GOODRICH ROAD that lies between the north-western kerb-line of Dunstans Road and a point 2 metres south-east of the south-eastern kerb-line build-out of Upland Road, and (ii) in that part of UPLAND ROAD that lies between the south-western kerb-line of Goodrich Road and a point 1.5 metres south-west of the common boundary of Nos. 336 and 338 Upland Road (as measured from the north-western kerb-line of Upland Road) between 8.30 am and 9.15 am and between 3.15 pm and 4.00 pm (Monday to Friday, during school term time, as determined by Goodrich Community Primary School); and
(b) to introduce a new ‘School Street’ timed pedestrian and cycle zone in the vicinity of St Anthony’s RC Primary School in which all motor vehicles except ‘SC29’ permit holders would be prohibited from entering or proceeding (i) in that part of FRIERN ROAD that lies between the south-western kerb-line of Goodrich Road and the north-eastern kerb-line of Lordship Lane, and (ii) in the entirety of ETHEROW STREET (which has an existing north-westward ‘one-way’ working) between 8.00 am and 9.00 am and between 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm (Monday to Friday, during school term time, as determined by St Anthony’s RC Primary School).
3. The effects of the (Prescribed routes) Order would be to introduce a timed ‘bus gate’ restriction in FRIERN ROAD at its junction with Lordship Lane, operating between 8.00 am and 9.00 am and between 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm of every Monday to Friday throughout the year, which would prohibit all vehicles entering from Lordship Lane into the north-westbound lane of Friern Road except for buses, cycles, taxis (black cabs only) and any ‘authorised vehicles’ (vehicles that have previously arranged access from Southwark Council via submitting their licence and vehicle registration details).

6. Anyone wishing to make any representations either for or to object to any of the proposals, may send a statement in writing to traffic.orders@southwark.gov.uk, or Traffic Order Consultations, Highways, Southwark Council, Environment, Sustainability & Leisure, P.O. Box 64529, London SE1P 5LX quoting reference ‘TMO2526-025 SSP Dulwich Hill area’ by 6 November 2025. Please note that if you wish to object to this proposal you must state the grounds on which your objection is made.
7. Under requirements of current access to information legislation, any letter, form or e-mail sent to the Council in response to this Notice may be subject to publication or disclosure, or both, including communication to other persons affected.
