Roads Surrounding Luton Sikh Peace Procession - Temporary Road Closures

What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(VARIOUS ROADS)
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURES) (No.42) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 23rd November 2025 for a period of 24 hours and cease operation when the proposed procession has finished, whichever is the earlier. Anticipated closure date will be on 23rd November 2025. Specific times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones.

The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads:
Dunstable Road from Stuart Street to Birch Link. Diversion via Telford Way, New Bedford Road, Montrose Avenue, Woodland Avenue, Leagrave Road.
Dallow Road from Brantwood Road to Dunstable Road. Diversion via Brantwood Road, Ashburnham Road, Cardiff Road, Dunstable Road.
Birch Link from Dunstable Road to Leagrave Road. Diversion not available.
Cardigan Street the whole length. Diversion not available.
Leagrave Road from Birch Link to Woodland Avenue. Diversion via Dunstable Road, Telford Way, New Bedford Road, Montrose Avenue, Woodland Avenue.
Woodland Avenue the whole length. Diversion via Montrose Avenue, New Bedford Road, Riddy Lane, Bancroft Road, Blundell Road, Leagrave Road.
Biscot Mill Roundabout the whole length. Diversion not available.
Montrose Avenue the whole length. Diversion via New Bedford Road, Riddy Lane, Bancroft Road, Blundell Road, Leagrave Road.
Stockingstone Roundabout the whole length. Diversion not available.
Stockingstone Road from New Bedford Road to Old Bedford Road. Diversion via Old Bedford Road, Mill Street, New Bedford Road
Old Bedford Road from Stockingstone Road to Guildford Street. Diversion via Stockingstone Road, New Bedford Road, Hucklesby Way.
Guildford Street from Old Bedford Road to Bute Street. Diversion not available.
Bridge Street from Guildford Street to New Bedford Road. Diversion not available.
New Bedford Road from the Luton & Dunstable Busway to Manchester Street. Diversion not available.
Inkerman Street from New Bedford Road to Collingdon Street. Diversion via New Bedford Road, Telford Way, Liverpool Road.
Collingdon Street the whole length. Diversion not available.

The Order is intended to create a window for the procession to take place and it is anticipated that the procession will take place within the date as above. The purpose of the Order is to enable the safe passage of highway users partaking in the Luton Sikh Procession. Details of road closures and diversions can be found at

Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely whilst the procession takes place and diversions for traffic will be marked by signs.
