What is happening?

THE BOROUGH OF LUTON
(COMMUNITY EVENTS)
(TEMPORARY TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT) ORDER 2025

NOTICE is hereby given that Luton Borough Council, the Highway Authority for the said Borough, intends to make the above Order under the relevant provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

The Order will come into operation on 1st November 2025 and cease to be in operation after 22nd November 2025 or when the proposed Luton community events have finished, whichever is the earlier. Specific dates and times will be signed locally. The Order will therefore be in operation during such date and time and to such extent as indicated by traffic signs, barriers or cones. The effect of the Order will allow the Council to close to vehicular traffic the following roads and lengths of roads for the events as titled:

LUTON’S FIREWORKS DISPLAY
Alwyn Close, Bowling Green Lane, Clarendon Road, Cromwell Hill, Earls Meade, Frederick Street, Greenside Park, Havelock Road, Havelock Rise, Knights Field, Mussons Path, Old Bedford Road (from Cromwell Hill to Stockingstone Road), Reginald Street, The Wickets, Trowbridge Gardens, Wardown Crescent, Wensleydale, William Street. Diversion via Stockingstone Road, New Bedford Road. Parking bays on Old Bedford Road will be suspended for the duration of the road closures. Anticipated dates and times of closures 1st November 2025 to 4th November 2025, 4pm to 9pm, or when the proposed Fireworks display has finished, whichever is earlier.

MARSH FARM FIREWORKS DISPLAY
Denham Close, Morris Close, Northwell Drive, Wexham Close. Diversion via Stockholm Way, Wauluds Bank Drive and The Moakes. Parking bays on Northwell Drive will be suspended for the duration of the road closures. Anticipated date and times of closure 5th November 2025, 4pm to 9pm, or when the proposed Fireworks display has finished, whichever is earlier.

REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMEMORATION MARSH ROAD
Marsh Road (the whole length). Diversion via Waller Avenue, Dunstable Road, Oakley Road, Poynters Road, Leagrave High Street, High Street, Grange Avenue. Anticipated date and times of closure 9th November 2025, 9.30am to 12noon, or when the proposed Commemoration has finished, whichever is earlier.

REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMEMORATION TOWN HALL
Alma Street, Castle Street, Castle Street Roundabout, Church Street (St Marys to Park Street West) Flowers Way, George Street, Gordon Street, Manchester Street, New Bedford Road (from Alma Street to Manchester Street), Peel Street, Park Street West (from Park Street to Flowers Way), Upper George Street (from Wellington Street to Gordon Street), Vicarage Street, Wellington Street (from Stuart Street to George Street). Diversion not available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 9th November 2025, 9:30am to 12noon and 11th November 2025, 10:55am to 11:10am, or when the proposed Commemoration has finished, whichever is earlier.

REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMEMORATION ST THOMAS’ ROAD STOPSLEY
St Thomas’ Road (the length situated on the west side of the war memorial traffic island at its junction with Hitchin Road). Diversion not available. Anticipated date and times of closure 11th November 2025, 10.45am to 11.30am, or when the proposed Commemoration has finished, whichever is earlier.

LUTON CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON
George Street, Upper George Street (from Wellington Street to Gordon Street), Manchester Street, Wellington Street (from Stuart Street to George Street), Peel Street. Diversion not available. Anticipated dates and times of closures 22nd November 2025 to 22nd November 2025, 12pm to 8pm, or when the proposed Luton Christmas Lights Switch On event has finished, whichever is earlier.

The Order is intended to create a window for the Luton community events to take place and it is anticipated that the events will take place within the dates and times described as above. The purpose of the Order is to enhance the safety of the public attending Luton community events.

Access will be maintained as best as possible to properties where this may be done safely and diversions for traffic where available will be marked by signs. Details of road closures and diversions can be found at
