What is happening?
SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984
Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:
A) C138 (Part), Cherhill; from its junction with Olivers Hill to its junction with A4 to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out core sampling works and other associated works. Alternative route via A4 – Olivers Hill and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 04 November 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00 for 3 days. B) C123 (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its junction with C110 to its junction with C120 to enable Openreach to carry out ducting installation works and other associated work. Alternative route via C120 – C131 – A3102 – C123 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 05 November 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. C) C137 (Part), Derry Hill and Studley; from its property known as The Warren for a distance of approximately 32m in a north westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out blockage clearance, repair works and other associated works. Alternative route via C137 (unaffected length) – C112 – C136 – C137 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 03 November 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:30 for 3 days. D) Red Lion Lane, Cricklade; from its junction with High Street for its entire length.
E) Rectory Lane, Cricklade; from its junction with High Street for its entire length to enable Wales & West Utilities Ltd to carry out gas mains replacement works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 03 November 2025 and the closure will be required until 14 November 2025. F) B3052 (Part), Marlborough; from its junction with Ducks Meadow to its junction with A345 to enable Openreach to carry out pole replacement and testing. Alternative route via A345 – A4 – A346 – B3052 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 08 November 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 2 days. G) C268 (Part), Wilcot, Huish and Oare; from its property known as Cold Blow House for a distance of approximately 36m in a south easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out section/81 defect – repair/replace cover and frame. Alternative route via C268 (unaffected length) – A345 – C264 – C268 (unaffected length) and vice versa. H) Buckingham Road (Part), Chippenham; from its property known as No.29 Buckingham Road for a distance of approximately 108m in a north easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out duct laying works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. I) Post Office Lane (Part), Broad Hinton; from its junction with The Croft for a distance of approximately 180m in a westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out overhead cabling works and other associated works. Alternative route via Post Office Lane (unaffected length) – Summers Lane – A4361 – Post Office Lane (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. J) Raffin Lane (Part), Pewsey; from its property known as No.07 Raffin Lane to its property known as No.13 Raffin Lane to enable Openreach to carry out new pole installation. Alternative route via Swan Meadow – Hill Road – Swan Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 17 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. K) Arms Gardens (Part), Sutton Benger; from its junction with High Street for a distance of approximately 90m in a southerly direction to enable Thornbury Surfacing Ltd to carry out new foul connection and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 until 17 October 2025. L) Church End (Part), Purton; from its junction with C34 to its property known as No.05 Church End to enable Churchman-fenner & Brown Ltd to carry out church wall repair works and other associated works. Alternative route via Church End (unaffected length) – The Fox – Common Platt – Cowleaze – Stone Lane – C34 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 24 October 2025. M) A342 (Part), Calne Without; from its junction with Back Lane to its junction with C155 to enable Openreach to carry out poling works and other associated works. Alternative route via A342 (unaffected length) – A4 – A3102 – A342 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 29 June 2025 will now recommence on 16 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. Orders (A to L) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order M has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works likely due to the nature of the works. Phase 2: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.72 Blain Place for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction.
Phase 3: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.58 Blain Place for a distance of approximately 20m in an easterly direction.
Phase 4: Blain Place (Part), Royal Wootton Bassett; from its property known as No.36 Blain Place for a distance of approximately 20m in a southerly direction to enable Bancumm Surfacing Ltd to carry out S278 Remedial works and replace manhole cover. No alternative route is available. The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.
This Order will come into operation on 13 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:30 and 16:30 until 17 October 2025. THE COUNTY OF WILTSHIRE (A4 CURZON STREET, CALNE) (PROHIBITION OF RIGHT-HAND TURN) ORDER 2025
Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Order under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be to introduce a Prohibition of Right Hand Turn from A4 Curzon Street onto Access Road to The Springfield’s Academy (western entrance). Deposit copies of the Order, plan and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Order may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours. PURT53, from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8826, leading in a northerly direction, for approximately 134 metres to OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8840, to a new route leading from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8826 in a north easterly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0918-8827, then in a broadly northerly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8840, a distance of approximately 150 metres, having a width of 2 metres.
PURT55, from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8826, leading in a north easterly direction, for approximately 139 metres to OS Grid Reference SU 0930-8832, to a new route leading from OS Grid Reference SU 0918-8827, leading in a north easterly, then northerly, then easterly, then southerly, then easterly, then northerly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0925-8832, a distance of approximately 127 metres, having a width of 2 metres.
PURT56, from OS Grid Reference SU 0917-8840, leading in a south easterly direction, then east south easterly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0940-8830, a distance of approximately 246 metres, to a new route leading from OS Grid Reference SU 0940-8830, leading in a broadly westerly direction to OS Grid Reference SU 0916-8833, a distance of approximately 227 metres, having a width of 2 metres.
Thereupon the Cricklade and Wootton Bassett Rural District Council Area Definitive Map and Statement dated 1952 shall be modified accordingly.
