ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

EAST LOTHIAN COUNCIL

(A198 BANKTON JUNCTION SOUTH ROUNDABOUT, TRANENT)

(REDETERMINATION OF MEANS OF EXERCISE OF PUBLIC RIGHT OF PASSAGE)

ORDER 2025 TO 417/25

East Lothian Council intends to make an Order under Sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3), 152(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to redetermine a part of the circulatory carriageway at Bankton South Roundabout, Church Street, Tranent to form a “teardrop” gyratory to improve traffic flows. The redetermination of the circulatory route means that traffic from Tranent travelling to Tranent Mains Road requires a slightly longer route, via Bankton North Roundabout, but pedestrian movements are not affected and generally will be improved by the introduction of three additional controlled pedestrian crossings.

A copy of the proposed Order, Schedule, plans showing the extent of the restrictions and the statement of reasons for making the Order can be viewed on the council’s website at www.eastlothian.gov.uk and on www.tellmescotland.gov.uk

These documents are available for inspection for the period from Friday 10th October 2025 to Friday 14th November 2025.

Any person may before expiry of the period noted above object to the making of the Order.

Any objection must be in writing and must specify the grounds thereof and should be addressed to:

Service manager, Road Services, Penston House, Macmerry Industrial Estate, Macmerry, EH33 1EX or email roadsconsultation@eastlothian.gov.uk
