Warrington – Multiple Temporary Road Closures due to Works

What is happening?

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Mill Ln, Lymm (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Mill Ln from its jct. with Birchbrook Rd to its jct. with West Gate Ln. The Order will be effective from 3rd November 2025 for 3 days. The alternative route will be via Higher Ln, Church Rd, Eagle Brow, The Cross, New Rd, Rushgreen Rd, Birchbrook Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow United Utilities to install a new customer connection.

River Rd (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on River Rd at the rear of 172 to 188 Wilderspool Cswy. The Order will be effective from 3rd November 2025 for 1 week. The closure is required to allow United Utilities to carry out sewer repair works.

Warrington Ln, Lymm (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Warrington Ln from its jct. with Burford Ln to its jct. with Agden Ln. The Order will be effective from 10th November 2025 for 7 weeks. The alternative route will be via Burford Ln, Higher Ln, Lymm Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow the construction of a flood defence wall & the installation of HV cable.

Notice is hereby given that the Council made Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Knutsford Rd (Suspension of Bus Lane) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which is as follows: Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (Knutsford Rd) (Revocation & reserved bus lane including pedal cycles, Hackney Carriages & licensed private hire vehicles) Order 2016 in so far as it relates to Schedule 2 – Bus Lane (including Pedal Cycles, Hackney Carriages & Licensed Private Hire Vehicles) 7.30am to 9.30am Monday to Saturday & the bus lane on Knutsford Rd which extends from a point 80m east of York St to a point 24m west of School St. The Order will be effective from 25th October 2025 for 1 week. The suspension is required to allow Cadent Gas to carry out mains replacement work.

Percival St (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Percival St from its jct. with Lord Nelson St to its jct. with Parr St. The Order will be effective from 13th October 2025 for 2 weeks. An alternative route will be signed on site. The closure is required to allow United Utilities to carry out sewer repair works.

Vulcan Cl, Poulton North (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Vulcan Cl from its jct. with Valiant Cl to its jct. with 94 Vulcan Cl. The Order will be effective from 27th October 2025 for 3 days. An alternative route will be signed on site. The closure is required to allow Openreach to clear carriageway blockages to allow spine cabling works.

Various Rd’s (Various Restrictions) (BSIP Phase 1) Temporary Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Council made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 10th April 2025. The effects of which were confirmed on 10th April 2025, however, the following phase of work needs to be extended for 9 weeks & will remain in place until 27th January 2026:

Prohibition of Driving: Ireland St between its jct. with Winwick Rd & its jct. with North Ave. The alternative route & reason for the works remains the same as previously advertised.

Various Rd’s (Various Restrictions) (BSIP Phase 2) Temporary Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Council made an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on 21st August 2025. The effects of which were confirmed on 21st August 2025, however, the following phases of works need to be extended as follows:

Prohibition of Driving: Northway between its jct. with Long Ln & its jct. with Clough Ave (extended for 3 weeks to 23rd November 2025); Longford St between its jct. with Winwick Rd & its jct. with Watkin St (extended for 6 weeks to 3rd February 2026); Jockey St for its entire length (extended for 8 weeks to 25th December 2025). The alternative routes & reason for the works remains the same as previously advertised.

The temporary restrictions will be in place as & when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
