Canterbury, Multiple Temporary Traffic Regulation Notices

What is happening?

Highways

 

Kent County Council, acting in exercise of its powers under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, makes or intends to make the following Orders.

 

CANTERBURY AREA

  

Adisham Road, Bekesbourne, CT4 5EY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow pole and cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Adisham Road, Bekesbourne from 24th October 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Aerodrome Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Adisham Road, Chalkpit Hill, School Lane, Station Road, Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, Wingham Road, Canterbury Road, B2046 High Street, Adisham Road, Station Road, Pond Hill, Adisham Downs Road, Adisham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Bekesbourne Hill, Bekesbourne, CT4 5DZ (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER 2025

To allow overhead cabling works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Bekesbourne Hill, Bekesbourne from 20th October 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed in the vicinity of number 1 Yew Tree Cottages, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Bekesbourne Hill, Bekesbourne Lane, A257 High Street, The Hill, Canterbury Road, Littlebourne Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Church Lane, Seasalter, CT5 4UN (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow patching works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Church Lane, Seasalter from 3rd November 2025, with estimated completion by 14th November 2025 between the hours of 08:30 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the footway entrance on Thistle Drive and the junction with Faversham Road, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Church Lane, A2990 Thanet Way, B2205 Borstal Hill, Joy Lane, Faversham Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ivy Lane, Canterbury, CT1 1PE (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow service connection works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ivy Lane, Canterbury from 3rd November 2025, with estimated completion by 10th November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 1, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Ladyfields, Herne, CT6 7XG (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow trenching works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Ladyfields, Herne from 3rd November 2025, with estimated completion by 7th November 2025, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed outside number 18, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Nargate Street, Littlebourne, CT3 1FF (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow patching and lining works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Nargate Street, Littlebourne from 3rd November 2025 with estimated completion by 14th November 2025, between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with Church Road and Ellen Court, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Nargate Street, A257 High Street, Jubilee Road, Church Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

North Holmes Road, Canterbury, CT1 1PY (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER OCTOBER 2025

To allow signing and lining works to be carried out, Kent County Council has made an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of North Holmes Road, Canterbury from 20th October 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between the junctions with St Martins Avenue and A257 St Martins Hill, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via North Holmes Road, Havelock Street, Monastery Street and A257 Longport.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Mickleburgh Hill, Herne Bay, CT6 6LA (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow bridge examination works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Mickleburgh Hill, Herne Bay from 9th November 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 06:00 and 18:00, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed 20m either side of the railway bridge, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic northbound is via Margate Road, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road, A299 Thanet Way, A291 Canterbury Road, B2205 Canterbury Road, Mickleburgh Hill.

The alternative route for any through traffic southbound is via Mickleburgh Hill, B2205 Canterbury Road, A291 Canterbury Road, A299 Thanet Way, Margate Road Interchange, Margate Road.

The alternative route for Reculver Road is via Reculver Road, Grange Road, King Edward Avenue, then join diversion for Mickleburgh Hill and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Thornden Wood Road, Chestfield. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow pole testing works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Thornden Wood Road, Chestfield from 3rd November 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed from the junction with Radfall Road for approximately 850m, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via Thornden Wood Road, Greenhill Road, A2990 Thanet Way, Chestfield Road, Radfall Hill, Radfall Road, Hackington Road and vice versa.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Tonford Lane, Thanington Without, CT1 3XU (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow underground structure works to be carried out, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of Tonford Lane, Thanington Without from 5th November 2025, for up to one day between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30, or until the works have been completed.

The road will be closed between numbers 30 and 20, to the extent indicated by signs and barriers on site.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during the works.

 

Various Roads, Canterbury. (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) TEMPORARY ORDER NOVEMBER 2025

To allow events to be held at Kent Cricket Ground, Kent County Council intends to make an Order prohibiting through traffic on part of various roads in Canterbury. This order takes effect from 5th November 2025, for up to 18 months. Planned dates will be published in advance of the works on One.Network and indicated by signage displayed on site 14 days before they start.

B2068 Old Dover Road

The road will be closed between the junctions with B2068 Nackington Road and Oaten Hill.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2050 New Dover Road, A28 St Georges Roundabout, Upper Bridge Street, Riding Gate Roundabout and vice versa.

B2068 Nackington Road

The road will be closed between the junctions with B2068 Old Dover Road and Chaucer Hospital Road.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via B2068 Old Dover Road, A2050 New Dover Road, A28 St Georges Roundabout, Upper Bridge Street, Riding Gate Roundabout, A28 Rhodaus Town, Pin Hill, Wincheap, Thanington Road, Ashford Road, Shalmsford Street, Chartham Downs Road, B2068 Street End, Faussett Hill, Nackington Road and vice versa.

B2068 St Lawrence Road

The road will be closed in its entirety.

The alternative route for any through traffic is via A2050 New Dover Road, A28 St Georges Roundabout, Upper Bridge Street, Riding Gate Roundabout or via A2050 New Dover Road, B2068 Old Dover Road.

Cossington Road

The road will be closed in its entirety.

There is no alternative route for this closure, however, residential and emergency access will be maintained at all times when it is safe to do so.
