Anthony Street, Temporary Road Closure Due To Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Anthony Street, Stanley) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025

The Council on 10/1/2025 made the above Order which was effective from 21/1 /2025 under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road: a 62metre length of Anthony Street that extends north westward from its junction with Beamish Street, Stanley to enable carriageway resurfacing works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will not be signed to vehicular traffic but limited access will be available via Beamish Street and Bloom Avenue, to the south west of the closure.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works, that were due to commence on 21/1/2025, will now commence on Thursday 16/10/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 1 day. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
