Ouston, Temporary Road Closures Due To Surfacing Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Abington and Aberfoyle area, Ouston) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following lengths of road.

  1. Arbroath A 56 metre length extending west from its junction with Ouston Road.

  2. Aberfoyle Full extents from its junction with Arbroath.

  3. Abington Full extent extending south from their junctions with Aberfoyle.

  4. Arcadia Between Aberfoyle and Arisaig.

  5. Ardrossan A 66 metre length extending west and south from its junction with Arcadia and Arisaig to enable Miles Macadam surfacing works to be undertaken.

An alternative route will not be available to vehicular traffic, but access will be afforded when safe to do so. The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 27/10/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 4 days, to around 4pm per day. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
