Newlands, Temporary Rod Closure Due To Gas Works

What is happening?

The County Council of Durham (Newlands, Blackhill, Consett) (Temporary Road Closure) Order 2025

The Council proposes to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from proceeding on the following length of road: 42 metre length of Newlands, Blackhill, Consett from the junction between Numbers 12 and 13 Newlands, at the western side of the closure, in an easterly direction to the front of Number 12 Newlands, to enable new gas connection works to be undertaken.

Throughout the period of the closure there will be no diversion available to vehicular traffic.

The maximum duration of the Order is 18 months. The proposed works are to commence from 8am on Monday 27/10/2025 and are anticipated to be completed in 2 weeks. On occasions, alternative dates for the closure may be necessary and these will be signed on site accordingly.
