Workington, Temporary Speed Restriction & No Waiting/Loading Due To Pedestrian Crossing Installation
What is happening?
CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (A597 HARRINGTON) (TEMPORARY 10 MPH SPEED RESTRICTION AND NO WAITING AT ANY TIME AND NO LOADING/UNLOADING AT ANY TIME TRAFFIC RESTRICTION) ORDER 2025 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable works to take place to install a pedestrian crossing (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to: -
- Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding at speeds in excess of 10 miles per hour along that section of the A597 Harrington, from its junction with Dene Avenue, extending in a north westerly direction for approx. 380 m. No speed limit imposed by this Order will apply to vehicles falling within regulation 3(4) of the Road Traffic Exemptions (Special Forces) (Variation and Amendment) Regulations 2011 when used in accordance with regulation 3(5) of those Regulations.
- Prohibit any vehicle from waiting at any time, on any day and/or from loading and unloading, at any time, on any day (including blue badge holders) along that section of the A597 Harrington, (north east side) from its junction with the East Lane, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 150 m. The Order will come into operation on 26 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 weeks and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
