Temporary Closure of Castle Street

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, propose to make an Order prohibiting all traffic from proceeding along Castle Street - from 50 metres north-west of the junction with Tower Street, north-westwards for a total distance of 19 metres. This Order will enable Wessex Water to carry out sewer division and chamber installation works.

The Order becomes effective on 23rd October 2025 and will remain in force for 18 months. The works are expected to commence on 27th October 2025 and last until 7th November 2025 between the hours of 00:00 - 23:59 for a total of 12 days.

a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road; or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
