What is happening?

THE NORTH HERTFORDSHIRE DISTRICT COUNCIL

(Kelshall 7) Public Path Diversion Order 2025 - Town And Country Planning Act 1990, Section 257

The above Order was made on the 2nd October 2025 and the effect will be to divert the 60 metre length of Kelshall 7 at: Land adjacent to Red Brick Cottage, Kelshall, to a new position to the East and North East to provide a footpath approximately 110 metres long. Improvement works to the remaining part of Kelshall 7 from Point B to Point D on the Order Plan.

A copy of the Order and Order Plan may be inspected free of charge at the address below or by visiting: www.north-herts.gov.uk/public-footpath-diversions.

Any representation or objection to the Order should be sent in writing to the under-named at the address below and stating the grounds on which it is made, by 6th November 2025.

If no such representations or objections are duly made, or if any so made are withdrawn, the Council may confirm the Order as an unopposed Order. If the Order is sent to the Secretary of State for the Environment for confirmation, any representations or objections which have not been withdrawn will be sent with the Order.

Schedule Part 1

Description of site of existing path or way.

The full width of that part of Kelshall FP 7 commencing from TL 3323 3623 (Point A on the Order Plan) and then running in a generally Northerly direction, for approximately 60 metres to TL 3324 3631 (Point B on the Order Plan).

Part 2

Description of site of alternative highway.

A public footpath commencing from a junction with Kelshall FP 7 at TL 3323 3623 (Point A on the Order Plan) and then running in a generally North Easterly direction on the North Western side of the South Eastern field boundary for approximately 50 metres to TL 3327 3626 (Point C1 on the Order Plan) then continuing in a generally north easterly direction for approximately 5 metres curving through TL 3327 3626 (Point C on the Order Plan) then turning North West and continuing for approximately 5 metres to TL 3327 3626 (Point C2 on the Order Plan) then continuing North West for approximately 50 metres to rejoin Kelshall FP 7 at TL 3324 3631 (Point B on the Order Plan).

Width:

3 metres from TL 3323 3623 (Point A on the Order Plan) to TL 3327 3626 (Point C1 on the Order Plan).

Variable width of between 3-5 metres from TL 3327 3626 (Point C1 on the Order Plan) to TL 3327 3626 (Point C2 on the Order Plan) as shown shaded grey on the Order Plan.

5 metres at TL 3327 3626 (Point C on the Order Plan).

3 metres from TL 3327 3626 (Point C2 on the Order Plan) to TL 3324 3631 (Point B on the Order Plan).

Part 3

Description of existing highway to be improved

That part of Kelshall Footpath 7 running from TL 3324 3631 (Point B on the Order Plan) generally north west for approximately 30 metres to TL 3324 3634 (Point D on the Order Plan) to be increased in width to 2.5 metres
