Northumberland: Blyth Annual Fireworks Display and South Newsham Road, Blyth - Various Traffic regulations and Restrictions

What is happening?

NORTHUMBERLAND COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)
BLYTH ANNUAL FIREWORKS DISPLAY
(TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to temporarily close multiple lengths of highway and to introduce a temporary speed restriction, temporary parking restrictions, no right turns, and no U turns as outlined below in Blyth in the County of Northumberland.

The Order is to be effective from the 31st October 2025 until the 1st November 2025 Road Closures

•  U9525 Links Road from its point outside of Broadside Garage heading southwards and then eastwards for a distance of 90 metres the road will be closed from 16:00 on 31st October 2025 until 15:00 on 1st November 2025.

•  U9525 Links Road for its entire length the road will be closed from 15:00 until 21:00 on 1st November 2025.

•  U9515 Elfin Way the entrance to the road will be closed from 16:00 until 19:30 on 1st November 2025.

There will be no alternative route available for the duration of the Order.

Temporary Restrictions

•  The Order will further temporarily restrict the speed of all traffic from 70 mph down to 30 mph in both directions on the sections of the A193 Links Road from its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout heading southwards for a distance of 860 metres.

•  The Order will further prohibit ‘No Right Turns’ and ‘No U Turns’ by vehicular traffic in both directions on the sections of the A193 Links Road from its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout heading southwards for a distance of 860 metres.

It is expected that the speed restriction, no right turn and no U Turns will be in place from 12:00 until 21:00 on 1st November 2025.

The Order will further introduce a ‘No Waiting and Loading at Any Time’ restriction on the following highways from 12:00 until 21:00 on 1st November 2025.

•  A193 Links Road in both directions from its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout heading southwards for a distance of 860 metres.

•  A1061 South Newsham Road from its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout heading westwards for a distance of 1000 metres.

•  B1329 Links Road from its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout heading eastwards and then northwards for a distance of 845 metres.

•  A193 Rotary Way from its junction with the A193 Links Road Roundabout heading northwards for a distance of 560 metres.

The closure has been requested by Blyth Town Council due to the likelihood of danger to the public attending the event and to enable the Blyth Annual Fireworks Display to take place safely.

REVOCATION OF THE A1061 SOUTH NEWSHAM ROAD
B1523 SOUTH NEWSHAM ROAD BLYTH (TEMPORARY ROAD
CLOSURE AND SPEED RESTRICTION) ORDER 2024

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Northumberland County Council intends to make an Order to REVOKE in its entirety the A1061 South Newsham Road B1523 South Newsham Road Blyth (Temporary Road Closure and Speed Restriction) Order 2024.

This order came into effect on the 1st January 2025 and was due to remain in place until the 31st December 2025.

It imposed the following closures and restrictions: Road Closures:

•  A1061 South Newsham Road for its entire length of 2710 metres.

•  B1523 South Newsham Road from its junction with Crayford Street heading south for a distance of 78 metres.

•  A1061 Laverock Hall Road for its entire length of 1190 metres.

•  A1061 Laverock Hall Road Roundabout to Shankhouse Roundabout for its entire length of 540 metres.

•  A1061 Shankhouse Roundabout to Laverock Hall Road Roundabout for its entire length of 540 metres.

Speed Restriction: 50mph down to 30mph

•  A1061 South Newsham Road eastbound lane from 50 mph down to 30 mph starting at its junction with A1061 Laverock Hall Road roundabout heading in an easterly direction for a distance of 855 metres.

•  A1061 South Newsham Road westbound lane from 50 mph down to 30mph from its point 142 metres west of its junction with A1061 South Newsham Roundabout heading in a westerly direction for a distance of 855 metres.

Speed Restrictions: 40mph down to 30mph

•  A1061 South Newsham Road eastbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its point 142 metres west of its junction with A1061 South Newsham Roundabout heading in an easterly direction for a distance of 790 metres.

•  A1061 South Newsham Road westbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its junction with U9524 Sandringham Road heading in a westerly direction for a distance of 790 metres.

•  B1523 South Newsham Road northbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its junction with A1061 South Newsham Road heading in a northerly direction for a distance of 78 metres.

•  B1523 South Newsham Road southbound lane from 40 mph down to 30 mph from its point 78 metres north of its junction with A1061 South Newsham Road heading in a southerly direction for a distance of 78 metres.

On revoking the Order, the closures and restrictions will be brought to an end. It is expected that the Revocation Order will come into effect on the 23rd October 2025.
