Oxfordshire - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures due to Utility and Resurfacing Works

What is happening?

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Abingdon, Beagle Close

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 6 October 2025

Coming into force: 13 October 2025

This Order is being introduced to install a new electricity supply which is anticipated to be completed 22 October 2025. This is a 24-hour road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in the part of Beagle Close, works area from No.14 to the end of the cul-de-sac.

Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. Road plates will be available to allow access. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16357/JP)

Tiddington, A418 Oxford Road & Sandy Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 13 October 2025

Coming into force: 20 October 2025

This Order is being introduced because of fibre cabling works which are anticipated to be completed 13 November 2025. This is a 24 hour daily road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in that part of Oxford Road from outside Tiddington Garage to opposite The Orchard; and in Sandy Lane from opposite Walters Farm to the junction with Oxford Road. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Sandy Lane, A40, A418 and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16417/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Milton, Sutton Road

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 6 October 2025

Coming into force: 16 October 2025

This Order continues in force an emergency road closure by Notice introduced 26 September because of collapsed sewer repairs which is anticipated to be completed 24 October 2025. This is a 24 hour daily road closure.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit any vehicle proceeding in that part of Sutton Road outside of 2 Beaker Place. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Sutton Rd – Milton Rd – Drayton Rd – Brook St – High St – Milton Rd and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16738/AC)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Watlington, Hill Road/Spring Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 6 October 2025

Coming into force: 10 October 2025

This Order is being introduced because of carriageway resurfacing works which are anticipated to take 10 days to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in sections of Hill Road & Spring Lane. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Traffic wishing to access Hill Road/Spring Lane from Watlington will be diverted south along B4009 Couching Street – turn along B480 Howe Road – turn back north via Patemore Lane – Nettlebed Henley to Christmas Common – turn back into Hill Road returning to Watlington, and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16029/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Harpsden, Harpsden Way

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 13 October 2025

Coming into force: 19 October 2025

This Order is being introduced because of drainage improvement works and resurfacing works which are planned to start on 4 August. These works now come into force on 27 October and are anticipated to take 5 days to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in that section of Harpsden Way between junctions with Gillotts Lane and Chalk Hill. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Traffic will be diverted via Gillotts Lane – B481 – Blounts Court Road – Perseverance Hill – Chalk Hill – Sheephouse Lane – A4155 – Greys Road and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T15932/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Garsington, Denton Lane

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 13 October 2025

Coming into force: 20 October 2025

This Order is being introduced because of water main replacement work which is anticipated to take 9 weeks to complete in phases along the road.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in Denton Lane from The Hill/Wheatley Road to Denton Hill. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road.

Traffic will be diverted via Wheatley Road – Denton Hill – Denton Lane – B480 – Pettiwell and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16532/MR)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Shipake, Reading Road RG9 3JN

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 8 September 2025

Came into force: 8 September 2025

This Order was introduced due to new water connection works which were anticipated to take 1 month to be completed, but the closure is now extended for 3 weeks to 31 October 2025 to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit vehicles proceeding in that section of Reading Road, between Highlands House & opposite Holly House. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed section of road. The alternative route for traffic is via Station Road – A4155 and vice versa.

This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16342(extension)/MR)
