What is happening?

LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(CATON ROAD, BULK ROAD, PARLIAMENT STREET. LANCASTER CITY)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Lancashire County Council have made an Order under Section 14(1) (a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, the effect of which will be to temporarily prohibit traffic on the roads set out in this notice.
1. No person shall cause motor vehicle, cycle or pedestrian to proceed over the following lengths of footway:
I. Caton Road, from its junction with Bulk Road, for a distance of approximately 80 metres in a north Easterly direction.
II. Bulk Road from its junction with Caton Road for a distance of approximately 30 metres in a Westerly direction.
III. Parliament Street for a distance of approximately 70 metres between Kashish and Farm Foods.
2. Nothing in this order shall apply to persons engaged in the carrying out of the works.
3. The prohibition will be operative from 0001 hours on Thursday 23rd October 2025 until 2359 hours on Friday 28th November 2025 or until completion of the works within this period.
4. An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is via:-
Pedestrians will be directed to opposite footways as below;
I. Caton Road – Temporary Pedestrian crossing to allow pedestrians to cross to opposite footway safely.
II. Bulk Road - Temporary Pedestrian crossing to allow pedestrians to cross to opposite footway safely.
III. Parliament Street - Pedestrians to use existing pedestrian crossings at either side of the closure to cross to the opposite footway safely.
The temporary prohibition is necessary to allow Hoarding to be erected in the footway around new development site.
