Norwich, Amendments To Bus Lane & Introduction Of Right Turn Restrictions

What is happening?

THE NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (NORWICH, A1074 DEREHAM ROAD AND U41931 VALENTINE STREET) TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDERS 2025

Norfolk County Council has made the following Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 on the 29th September 2025 which come into operation on the 6th October 2025, the effects of which are:-

The Norfolk County Council (Norwich, A1074 Dereham Road) (Bus Lane) Amendment Order 2025

To amend The Norwich City Council (Grapes Hill, St Benedicts Street and Dereham Road (Phase 1)) Traffic Regulation) Order 2012 (the “2012 Order”) by shortening the length of the existing bus lane on the A1074 Dereham Road by 21.5 metres.

The Norfolk County Council (Norwich, A1074 Dereham Road and U41931 Valentine Street) (Prohibition of Right Turns) Order 2025

To prohibit vehicles from turning right:-

(i) from the U41931 Valentine Street on to the eastbound carriageway of the A1074 Dereham Road; and

(ii) the junction situated at a point 28 metres to a point 23 metres east of the eastern back of highway line of Raglan Street, to turn right onto the westbound carriageway of the A1074 Dereham Road.

Copies are also available for inspection at Norfolk County Council, County Hall, Martineau Lane, Norwich, NR1 2DH and at the offices of Norwich City Council, City Hall, St Peters Street, Norwich, NR2 1NH. Online viewing is recommended.

Any person who desires to question the validity of the Orders or of any provision contained in them on the grounds that they are not within the powers conferred by the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, or on the grounds that any requirement of that Act, or of any instrument made under it, has not been complied with in relation to the Order, may, within six weeks from 22nd September 2025 apply to the High Court for this purpose.
