What is happening?

SOUTH GLOUCESTERSHIRE COUNCIL

(Dyers Lane, Iron Acton) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Dyers Lane which extends from a point 25m south of Mission Road southwards for 20m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works. The order became operative from 13 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: Dyers Lane, Yate Road, Wotton Road, Chaingate Lane, Dyers Lane.

(Old Gloucester Road, Alveston) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Old Gloucester Road which extends from a point 115m east of Thornbury Road north eastwards for 100m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon demolish and exiting box works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 13 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 8 days duration. No alternative route available: Dead end road.

(Charles Road, Filton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Charles Road which extends from a point 10m north west of Warren Road north westwards for 20m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with manhole cover repair works. The order became operative from 13 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration. Alternative route: Charles Road (parts unaffected), Hunters Way, Filton Avenue and vice versa.

(Court Road, Oldland Common) (No.2) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles, Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles, foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Court Road which extends from a point in line with property No.86 north westwards for 30m and in a south eastwards for 30m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon drainage improvement works on or adjacent to the highway. The order became operative from 13 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 5 days duration. Alternative route: Court Road (part unaffected), West Street, Cowhorn Hill, Tower Road South, Cadbury Heath Road, Parkwall Road, California Road and vice versa.

(Old Gloucester Road, Winterbourne) (No.4) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Old Gloucester Road which extends from a point 350m north of Winterbourne Road northwards for 250m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with pole replacement works. The order became operative from 14 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 days duration, between 9am and 4pm. Alternative route: Church Road, Latteridge Hill, Latteridge Road, Bristol Road, High Street, Beacon Lane and Winterbourne Road and vice versa.

(A38 Gloucester Road, Thornbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of A38 Gloucester Road which extends from Grovesend Road north eastwards for 150m and south westwards for 150m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with carriageway reconstruction and resurfacing works. The order became operative from 14 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 2 weeks duration, between 8pm and 6am. Alternative route: A38, A4174 Link Road, B4058, B4509, A38 and vice versa.

(Guest Avenue, Emersons Green) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended have made an order the effect of which has closed, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Guest Avenue which extends from Berkeley Way northwards for 20m. This order was required for the following reason: in connection with manhole cover replacement works. The order became operative from 15 October 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of a 1 day duration. Alternative route: Guest Avenue, Emersons Way, Westerleigh Road, Blackhorse Road, Richmond Road, St James Street, Cossham Street, Pomphrey Hill, Johnson Road, Church Farm Road, Homeground, Guest Avenue.

(Horton Road, Horton) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Horton Road which extends from a point 375m south west of Mapleridge Lane south westwards for 20m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works. The order will be operative from 3 November 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: St Johns Way, Badminton Road, Tetbury Road, Stroud Road.

(Pretoria Road, Patchway) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of Pretoria Road which extends from Windermere Road northwards for 50m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with new water connection works. The order will be operative from 3 November 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: Cavendish Road, Durban Road, Windermere Road and vice versa.

(The Downs Road, The Downs and Cowship Lane, Charfield and Wickwar) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles the lengths of road specified in the Schedule to this notice. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with cabling and desilting works. The order will be operative from 3 November 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 9 (working) days duration, between 7pm and 6am.

(St Davids Road, Thornbury) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Vehicles) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended intends to make an order the effect of which will be to close, temporarily, to vehicles that length of St Davids Road which extends from Blakes Road northwards for 20m. This order is required for the following reason: in connection with frame and cover replacement works. The order will be operative from 4 November 2025 for a maximum period of eighteen months. The closure however may not be implemented for the whole of the period but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works which are anticipated to be of 3 days duration. Alternative route: St Davids Road, Oakleaze Road, Gillingstool, St Davids Road and vice versa.

(Cyclepath Iron Acton Way, Yate) (Temporary Prohibition of Use by Foot Passengers, Pedal Cycles and Equestrians) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the above order, made by South Gloucestershire District Council on 2 April 2025, has been continued in force with the approval of the Secretary of State for Transport until 13 April 2026 or until such time as the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. The effect of the order has closed, temporarily, to foot passengers, pedal cycles and equestrians that length of Cyclepath Iron Acton Way which extends from Lodge Road south westwards for 300m. This order was required in connection with the likelihood of danger to the public consequent upon construction works and would have expired on 13 October 2025. Alternative Route: Pedestrians: Footway on opposite side of Iron Acton Way. Cyclists: Armstrong Way and North Road to traffic light junction with Iron Acton Way. Equestrians: Dyers Lane and Mission Road.

(Gloucester Road – Northbound Service Road, Rudgeway) (One Way Traffic) Order 202(-) Details of the proposed changes
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to introduce one way traffic working in Gloucester Road – Northbound Service Road, Rudgeway. Motor vehicles will travel in a northerly direction. Cyclists are permitted to travel in both directions. Exemptions are contained in the order for fire brigade, ambulance or police purposes. Full details of the proposal are contained in the draft order. Details of the proposed changes
Notice is hereby given that South Gloucestershire District Council proposes to make an order under sections 1(1), 2(1) to (3) and 4(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended the effect of which will be to prohibit vehicles waiting at any time in lengths of Gloucester Road – Northbound Service Road, Rudgeway. Exemptions in the order permit any vehicle to wait for the purpose of boarding or alighting; loading or unloading goods; delivering postal packets; maintenance of the road; supply of gas, water or electricity; the pursuance of statutory powers or duties; taking in petrol, oil, water or air from any garage; weddings or funerals and in accordance with the current provisions for vehicles displaying a disabled person’s badge. (Footpaths LWA 31 (Part) and LWA 33 (Part) at Powell Court, Doynton) Public Path Diversion Order 2025
The above order, made on 1 October 2025, under section 119 of the Highways Act 1980, will divert that length of public footpath LWA 31 in the Parish of Wick & Abson in the Unitary District of South Gloucestershire from the unaffected part of the path, 2m southeast of the boundary fence between an agricultural field and land associated with 3 Powell Court, at Point C (grid reference ST 7149 7456) running in a south-southeasterly direction across the land associated with 3 Powell Court for a distance of 24m to the boundary fence at Point B (grid reference ST 7151 7454) where it meets public footpath LWA 33 then continuing in an easterly direction along the access drive for 18m to meet public bridleway LWA 30 to the north of 2 Powell Court at Point A (grid reference ST 7152 7455). Shown by a bold continuous line marked C - B - A on the order map; that length of public footpath LWA 33 in the Parish of Wick & Abson in the Unitary District of South Gloucestershire from the unaffected part of the path at the boundary between the agricultural field and land associated with, and south west of, 4 Powell Court at Point D (grid reference ST 7147 7450) running in a generally northeasterly direction for a distance of 60m across land associated with properties 3 and 4 Powell Court to meet public footpath LWA 31 at the boundary fence at Point B (grid reference ST 7151 7454). Shown by a bold continuous line marked D - B on the order map – to a line running from LWA 31 – From the unaffected part of the path within the boundary of 3 Powell Court at Point C (grid reference ST 7149 7456) running in a northeasterly direction following the northwest boundary fence for a distance of 21m to the northern corner of the land associated with 3 Powell Court at Point G (grid reference ST 7150 7457) before turning to a south-southeasterly direction and following the northeast boundary fence for 23m to the eastern corner of the land where it exits onto the track in a north easterly direction for 2.5m meeting bridleway LWA 30 on the track at Point E (grid reference ST 7152 7455). Having a width throughout of 2m and shown by a bold broken line marked C - G - E on the order map; LWA 33 – From the unaffected part of the path within the boundary of 4 Powell Court at Point D (grid reference ST 7147 7450) running alongside the boundary fence between the land associated with 4 Powell Court and the agricultural field firstly in a northwesterly direction for 34m to the corner at Point F (grid reference ST 7152 7455) then in a northeasterly direction, crossing into the land associated with 3 Powell Court after 37m and continuing for a further 17m to meet public footpath LWA 31 at Point C (grid reference ST 7149 7456). Having a width throughout of 2m and shown by a bold broken line marked D - F - C on the order map. A copy of the order and the order map and an explanatory statement have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Yate One Stop Shop (next to the Leisure Centre), Kennedy Way, Yate BS37 4DQ during normal opening hours. Copies of the order and map may be bought at the price of £6.50.
