NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any vehicle except a vehicle being used for fire, police or ambulance purposes in an emergency, from proceeding along the length of Larkway, Bedford.

This temporary road closure is required to carry out chamber repairs via manhole in the carriageway and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 09:00 to 16:00 hours 26th October 2025

The signed alternative route for vehicles affected by the order is available via Falcon Avenue, Fulmar Road, Pipit Rise, Larkway.

The reverse route applies.

DAME ALICE STREET, BEDFORD 25 – 075

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Bedford Borough Council has made an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any cyclist from proceeding along the cycleway Dame Alice Street, Bedford from The Broadway to Harpur Street. These temporary cycleway closure(s) are required for the safety of the public and workforce while highway improvement to the cycle way are carried out and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs.

These temporary cycleway closure(s) are anticipated to be in operation 34 hours 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 25th October 2025 to 27th October 2025 nights only 20:00-06:00 27th October 2025 to 2nd November 2025

Cyclists affected by the proposed Order should follow the diversion route as appropriate. This temporary road closure is required to facilitate carriageway resurfacing works and high friction surfacing and shall apply to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the appropriate traffic signs. This temporary road closure is anticipated to be in operation 20:00 to 06:00 hours from 7th November 2025 to 24th November 2025 and 20:00 to 06:00 from 8th December 2025 to 9th December 2025

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (BEDFORD FOOTHPATH NO 22)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF THROUGH TRAFFIC) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Bedford Borough Council intend not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order the effect of which will be to prohibit any person proceeding on foot along the length of Bedford: Footpath No 22 which extends from Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OS GR) TL 0560 4942 to OS GR TL 0637 4933.

This temporary closure is required to carry out Environment Agency works. The closure is expected to take place from Thursday 23rd October 2025 for up to six months

The alternative route for footpath users while the closure is in operation will be to proceed along footpath No 17 to the Embankment and vice visa. The proposed Order will come into operation on 23rd October 2025 for a period not exceeding six months or until the works which it is proposed to carry out on or near to the footpath have been completed, whichever is the earlier. If the works are not completed within six months the Order may be extended for a longer period with the consent of the Secretary of State for Transport.

BEDFORD BOROUGH COUNCIL (BRICKHILL: FOOTPATH No. 9)

PUBLIC PATH DIVERSION ORDER 2023

On 15 September 2025 the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs confirmed the above Order made under Section 119 of the Highways Act 1980.

The effect of the Order as confirmed is to divert:-

That length of Public Footpath numbered 9 in the Parish of Brickhill commencing from the public road known as “Falcon Avenue” approximately 20 metres south of 29 Falcon Avenue, Brickhill at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0545/5182 then running in a north north east direction for approximately 240 metres to a point where it has a junction with that part of the public road known as “Waveney Avenue” at OSGR TL 0549/5206 to a route commencing from a point where it joins that part of the public road known as “Falcon Avenue” approximately 20 metres west south west of 29 Falcon Avenue, at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR) TL 0543/5185 then running in a generally north north east direction for approximately 197 metres until it reaches a junction with the public road known as “Waveney Avenue” at Ordnance Grid Reference OSGR TL 0547/5203.

A copy of the Order as confirmed and the Order map have been placed and may be seen free of charge at Borough Hall, Cauldwell Street, Bedford by appointment from 10am to 4pm on Weekdays (Bank and Public Holidays excepted).
