CROYDON COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT, 1984, SECTION 14

AS AMENDED

THE ROAD TRAFFIC (TEMPORARY RESTRICTIONS) ACT 1991

AND ALL OTHER ENABLING POWERS

RUSSELL HILL, PURLEY

TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF VEHICULAR TRAFFIC & PARKING

  1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gas main replacement works by SGN, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily prohibit vehicular traffic and parking in Russell Hill, Purley.

  2. Whilst the said works are taking place:

    a) The entire length of Russell Hill will be closed westbound (towards Plough Lane) in phases.

    b) Parking in Russell Hill will be suspended on both sides of the road and waiting and loading restrictions will apply “at any time”.

  3. The Order will come into operation on 02 October 2025, and it is anticipated that the works will be completed by 16 March 2026. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

  4. During the closure the diversion route for vehicular traffic will be via Plough Lane, Foxley Lane, and Russell Hill Road.

  5. The prohibitions will only apply during such times and to such extent as shall from time to time be indicated by traffic signs.

  6. The restrictions shall not apply in respect of:

    (a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

    (b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

    (c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.

    STATION ROAD, SOUTH NORWOOD

    TEMPORARY RESTRICTION OF TRAFFIC

    1. Croydon Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that to facilitate gully investigation and repair works, they have made an Order the effect of which would be to temporarily restrict traffic movements in Station Road, South Norwood.

    2. Whilst the said works are taking place Station Road (fronting property Nos. 26 to 32 and 25 to 33) will be closed between its junction with Cargreen Road and Norwood Junction Station Car Park.

      1. The Order will come into operation on 02 October 2025, and it is anticipated that the work will be carried out within five days. However, the Order will remain in force for 18 months to be reintroduced should further work be required.

      2. Whilst the closure is in place, access and egress will be maintained and supervised by Marshalls.

      3. The restriction shall not apply in respect of:

        (a) a vehicle being used for fire brigade, ambulance, or police purposes, or the purposes of a statutory undertaker in an emergency, such as the loss of supplies of gas, electricity or water to premises in the area, which necessitates the bringing of vehicles into a section of road to which the order applies.

        (b) anything done with the permission of a police constable in uniform or a Civil Enforcement Officer.

        (c) any vehicle involved in carrying out the specified works.
