What is happening?
HERTFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL:
(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF RUSHBY MEAD, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Rushby Mead, Letchworth Garden City from its junction with the access road leading to the ‘Mrs Howard Memorial Hall’ car park north eastwards and south westwards for a distance of approximately 60m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Rushby Mead, Norton Way, Hillshott and Rushby Mead.
The Order is needed because electrical connection works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 13 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF ST MARYS CHURCH ROAD, LITTLE WYMONDLEY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of St Marys Church Road, Little Wymondley from a point in line with the northern boundary of ‘Purbeck’ south eastwards for a distance of approximately 45m (“the Road”).
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 21 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF RECTORY LANE, STEVENAGE) ORDER NO.2 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Rectory Lane, Stevenage from its junction with B197 North Road south eastwards, north eastwards and south eastwards to its junction with Nicholas Place, a distance of approximately 500m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via B197 (North Road/Graveley Road), A602 Hitchin Road, A1072 Martins Way, Canterbury Way, Great Ashby Way, St Albans Link, Weston road and Rectory Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 20 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF WOBURN CLOSE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Woburn Close, Stevenage from a point in line with the southern boundary of No.22 Woburn Close north eastwards, north westwards and south eastwards for its entire length (“the Road”).
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because electrical repair works are proposed to be executed near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 20 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING AND TEMPORARY WAITING RESTRICTIONS IN GRAYS LANE, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Grays Lane, Hitchin from its junction with A505 Upper Tilehouse Street north westwards for its entire length (“the Road”), except for access.
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
ADDITIONALLY all vehicles are prohibited from waiting at any time on both sides of this length of the Road whilst works are in progress.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
If the Order is made, it shall come into force on 20 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE FOOTPATH FRONTING NOS.1-19 LONG HYDE, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedestrians from using the footpath fronting Nos.1-19 Long Hyde, Stevenage from its junction with Wigram Way north eastwards to its junction with Shephall Way, a distance of approximately 98m (“the Footpath”).
An alternative route will be via the footway situated on the north east side of Wigram Way, the footpath fronting Nos.2-12 Little Hyde and the footpath situated on the south east side of Shephall Way.
The Order is needed because works are proposed to be executed on or near the Footpath.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Footpath.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF GIPSY LANE, KNEBWORTH) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Gipsy Lane, Knebworth from its junction with Spinney Lane northwards and north eastwards for a distance of approximately 678m (“the Road”), except for access.
An alternative route will be via Wych Elm Lane, Bridge Road, B197 London Road, Gun Road, Stockens Green and Gipsy Lane.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 9 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BROADWAY, LETCHWORTH GARDEN CITY) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using the southbound carriageway of Broadway, Letchworth Garden City from a point 20m north east of its junction with Arena Parade south westwards for a distance of approximately 85m (“the Road”).
An alternative route will be via Broadway, Station Place, Station Road, Norton Way South, Pixmore Way and Broadway.
The Order is needed because the replacement of existing gas mains is proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF BURY MEAD ROAD, HITCHIN) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all vehicular traffic from using that length of Bury Mead Road, Hitchin from a point 95m north west of its junction with Grove Road north westwards for a distance of approximately 30m (“the Road”).
There is no alternative route available for vehicles when the works are being carried out. However vehicular access to properties in this road will be maintained whenever possible throughout the duration of the works.
The Order is needed because utility repair works are proposed to be executed on or near the Road.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 18 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Road.

(TEMPORARY CLOSING OF THE CYCLE TRACK SITUATED ON THE NORTH SIDE OF MAXWELL ROAD, STEVENAGE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that Hertfordshire County Council has made the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to prohibit all pedal cycles from using the cycle track situated on the north side of Maxwell Road, Stevenage from a point in line with the western boundary of ‘Serviceline House’ south westwards for a distance of approximately 35m (“the Cycle Track”).
Pedal Cyclists will need to dismount and use the adjacent footway.
The Order is needed because utility service works are proposed to be executed on or near the Cycle Track.
The Order has been made and shall come into force on 6 October 2025 for a period of up to 6 months. However, the restrictions specified shall only take effect at the times indicated by signs on or near the Cycle Track.

THE HERTFORDSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS, GRAVELEY) (20 MPH ZONE) ORDER 2025
NOTICE is given that the Hertfordshire County Council in order to improve road safety proposes under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to introduce a new 20 mph zone in parts of Graveley as specified in the Schedule to this Notice.
Documents giving more detailed particulars of the proposals may be viewed from 2 October 2025 during office hours, at Main Reception, County Hall, Hertford, or on-line at www.hertfordshire.gov.uk/trafficorders by selecting North Herts and looking at Ref: NH00725.
