TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council propose to make the above Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 not less than seven days from the date hereof the Highway Authority being satisfied that access to the said road should be prohibited because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.

The effect of the Order, which will come into effect on 12th October 2025, will be to temporarily close A67 Yarm High Street below at such times as traffic management signs may be erected to notify highway users of the closure. It is expected that the closure will be between 6.00pm - 11.00pm on Tuesday 14th October, 5:45pm - 10:45pm on Thursday 16th October and Friday 17th October and between 11.30am - 11.59pm Saturday 18th October 2025. The on street parking places at A67 Yarm High Street shall be suspended at any time when traffic management signs have been erected notifying users of the suspension, anticipated to be between 12th October 10pm to 18th October 11.59pm. A temporary clearway was also introduced on the lengths of roads at A67/A135 Yarm Road, A67 High Street, A67 Urlay Nook Road, Bridge Street, Bentley Wynd and West Street, prohibiting waiting, loading and stopping at such times as traffic signs have been erected or in accordance with such signs, anticipated to be Tuesday 14th October 5pm - 11pm, Thursday 16th October 5pm - 10.45pm, Friday 17th October 5pm - 10.45pm & Saturday 18th October 10.30am - 11.59pm. Contravention of any clearway may result in the removal of vehicles. A temporary clearway was introduced on the lengths of road at A135 Yarm Road Eaglescliffe and A67 The Spital, prohibiting the waiting, loading or stopping of vehicles other than taxis when traffic signs have been erected, anticipated to be between Tuesday 14th October 5pm - 11pm, Thursday 16th October 5pm - 10.45pm, Friday 17th October 5pm - 10.45pm & Saturday 18th October 10.30am - 11.59pm Yarm Wharf, Old Market, West Street and Castle Dyke Wynd off-street car parks will also be closed between 5.00pm - 11.00pm on Tuesday 14th October, 5:00pm - 10:45pm on Thursday 16th October and Friday 17th October and between 10.30am - 11.59pm Saturday 18th October 2025. The Order will commence on 12th October 2025, The restrictions and roads affected are specified in the order and plans which can be viewed on the Council’s website (search for traffic orders). The Order may continue in force for a maximum period of eighteen months.

Alternative routes will be signed on site. Bus services will be affected, temporary stops will be in use on Bridge Street. No vehicular movement will be permitted along the High Street, between its junctions with Silver Street and Atlas Wynd, during the times of the road closures only. While the road closures are in operation, vehicle access will be maintained for relevant Permit Holders and any vehicle used in connection with, or ancillary to Yarm Fair only to Silver Street and the supermarket car park via the northern end of Yarm High Street, and to Atlas Wynd via the southern end of Yarm High Street only. Access will be maintained for emergency vehicles and pedestrians at all times and the order will not prevent access by pedestrians to premises adjacent to the highways concerned or to premises only served by those highways.
