Warrington - Multiple Traffic Notices, Temporary Road Closures and Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

WARRINGTON BOROUGH COUNCIL

Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984

Notice is hereby given that, in not less than 7 days from the date of this Notice, the Council intends to make Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Bridgewater Ave (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving & clearway on Bridgewater Ave from its jct. with A50 Kingsway Sth to its jct. with Brindley Ave. The Order will be effective from 16th October 2025 for 4 weeks, during off peak hours. A localised alternative route will be signed on site. The restrictions are required for highway improvement works.

Povey Rd (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce a prohibition of driving on Povey Rd from its jct. with School Rd to its jct. with Capesthorne Rd. The Order will be effective from 27th October 2025 for 1 week. The alternative route will be via School Rd, Sandy Ln, Morgan Ave, Statham Ave, Poplars Ave Capesthorne Rd & vice versa & via School Rd, Birtles Ave, Capesthorne Rd & vice versa. The closure is required to allow for a new drainage connection to be installed into the United Utilities sewer.

Various Rd’s in Penketh & Cuerdley (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be to introduce the following: Prohibition of Driving & Clearway:

Entire lengths of road: Hillside Gr; Lynton Cl; Radlett Cl; Walsingham Rd; Holly Rd; Kirkwall Dr; Larch Ave; Norton Ave; Sandy Ln;

Part lengths of road: Arlington Dr from No. 25 to the end at No. 30; Chapel Rd from the jct. with Warrington Rd to the jct. with Bramble Cl; Edward Rd from the jct. with Henderson Cl to the end of the road; Manston Rd from No. 44 to the end at No. 60; Neville Cres from No. 24 to No. 60; Oak Rd from the jct. with Hall Nook to the jct. with Oakmere Dr; Station Rd from the jct. with Chapel Rd to the jct. with Walkers Ln;

Clearway: Farmworth Rd from No. 58 to No. 37A.

The Order will be effective from 27th October 2025 for 9 weeks, between 8:30am & 5:30pm.

The alternative routes will be as follows: Walsingham Rd via Meeting Ln, Windmill Ln, St. Alban Rd & vice versa; Chapel Rd via Warrington Rd, Tannery Ln, Station Rd & vice versa; Holly Rd via Walsingham Rd, Meeting Ln, Windmill Ln & vice versa; Kirkwall Dr via Hamble Dr, Station Rd, Hall Nook, Warrington Rd, Inglewood Rd, Ash Rd, Maple Cres, Thorn Cl & vice versa; Larch Ave via Meeting Ln, Windmill Ln, Friars Ave, Walton Ave & vice versa; Norton Ave via Kenyon Ln, Meeting Ln, Larch Ave & vice versa; Oak Rd via Hall Nook, Manston Rd, Hamble Dr, Kirkwall Dr, Thorn Cl, Maple Cres & vice versa; Sandy Ln via Heath Rd, Victoria Rd, Tannery Ln & vice versa; Station Rd via Chapel Rd, Warrington Rd & vice versa. The restrictions are required for road &/or footway surfacing.

Various Rd’s (Various Restrictions) (BSIP Phase 3) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which will be as follows: Prohibition of Driving: Winwick Rd from its jct. with Long Ln to its jct. with Pinners Brow; Long Ln from its jct. with Winwick Rd to its jct. with Fisher Ave;

Temporary Suspension of The Borough of Warrington (A50 Long Ln/ Orford Green) (7.5 Tonne Weight Limit) Order 2007 in so far as it relates to:

A50 Long Ln (Eastbound) from the A49 Winwick Rd to the west side of its jct. with Fisher Ave;

A50 Orford Green (Westbound) from its jct. with Hilden Pl to the east side of its jct. with the south-eastern end of Birtles Rd.

The Order will be effective from 27th October 2025 for 14 weeks to the 1st February 2026, between 7pm & 6am. The restrictions will be carried out in 5 phases with 1 phase in operation at any one time as follows:

Phase 1: Long Ln; Phase 2: Winwick Rd southbound Long Ln to Longford St; Phase 3: Winwick Rd southbound Longford St to Pinners Brow; Phase 4: Winwick Rd northbound Pinners Brow to Longford St; Phase 5: Winwick Rd northbound Longford St to Long Ln.

The alternative routes will be as follows:

Phase 1 via Winwick Rd, Lythgoes Ln, Manchester Rd, Woolston Grange Ave, Birchwood Way, Orford Rd, Orford Green, School Rd & vice versa; Phase 2 & 3 via Long Ln, School Rd, Orford Green, Orford Rd, Birchwood Way, Woolston Grange Ave, Manchester Rd & Lythgoes Ln; Phase 4 via Lythgoes Ln, Midland Way, Froghall Ln, Priestley St, Lovely Ln, Folly Ln & Kerfoot St; Phase 5 via Lythgoes Ln, Manchester Rd, Woolston Grange Ave, Birchwood Way, Orford Rd, Orford Green, School Rd & Long Ln. The restrictions are required to allow for resurfacing works to be carried out associated with BSIP.

Notice is hereby given that the Council made Orders under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Tan House Ln, Burtonwood (Prohibition of Driving) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which is to introduce a prohibition of driving on Tan House Ln from its jct. with Farmers Ln to its jct. with Burtonwood Rd. The Order will be effective from 6th October 2025 for 1 day, between 9:30am & 3:30pm. The alternative route will be via Chapel Ln, Clay Ln & vice versa. The closure is required to allow Openreach to carry out telecom pole replacement works.

Various Rd’s, Footway Maintenance (Prohibition of Driving & Clearway) Temporary Order 2025

The effect of which is to introduce the following:

Prohibition of Driving: Southwestern Approach to Cantilever Bridge from the Cantilever Bridge to its jct. with Ackers Rd; Southeastern Approach to Cantilever Bridge from the Cantilever Bridge to its jct. with Ackers Rd;

Clearway: A574 Warrington Rd from the roundabout at East Lancs Rd to the roundabout at Bents Garden Centre;

West Ave from its jct. with London Rd to its jct. with Kimberley Dr; Southwestern Approach to Cantilever Bridge from the Cantilever Bridge to its jct. with Ackers Rd; Southeastern Approach to Cantilever Bridge from the Cantilever Bridge to its jct. with Ackers Rd.

The Order will be effective from 6th October 2025 for approx. 4 to 6 weeks at each location, between 9:30am & 3:30pm. The alternative routes will be as follows:

Southwestern Approach to Cantilever Bridge via Ackers Rd, Southeastern approach to Cantilever Bridge & vice versa; Southeastern Approach to Cantilever Bridge via Ackers Rd, Southwestern approach to Cantilever Bridge & vice versa. The restrictions are required for road or footway resurfacing.

The temporary restrictions will be in place as & when the signs are in place on site. Access will be under the control of the relevant Contractor for the duration of the works.
