Temple Back And Temple Street - One Way Traffic And Contraflow Cycle Lanes Order

What is happening?

CITY OF BRISTOL

(TEMPLE BACK AND TEMPLE STREET, CENTRAL WARD, CITY OF BRISTOL)
(ONE WAY TRAFFIC AND CONTRAFLOW CYCLE LANES) ORDER 2025

The City Council of Bristol hereby gives NOTICE that on 2nd October 2025 it made a traffic order, the effect of which will be:-

1. to introduce a north westbound one way provision for vehicles with a south eastbound contraflow cycle lane in Temple Back between Water Lane and Counterslip; and

2. to extend the existing southbound one way provision for vehicles in Temple Street to operate between Counterslip and Victoria Street, with northbound contraflow cycle lanes between Victoria Street and 30.5 metres north of Water Lane.

The order will come into operation on 6th October 2025 and a copy thereof, together with plans, a copy of the order being revoked and a Statement of the Council’s Reasons for making the order may be inspected at the Citizen Service Point, 100 Temple Street, Bristol, BS1 6AG, between 10.00 a.m. and 4.00 p.m. on Monday to Friday.

Any person who desires to question the validity of, or of any provision contained in the order on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, or on the grounds that any of the relevant requirements of that Act has not been complied with in relation to the order, may within six weeks after the date on which the order was made, apply to the High Court for this purpose.
