What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Alresford Viaduct (Bridge No.328), B1027 St Osyth Road, Alresford)

(Temporary 18 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended

Effect of the order: To introduce a temporary 18t weight limit from the northwestern end of the Alresford Viaduct (Bridge No.328) to its southeastern end, a distance of approximately 70 metres for the protection of the weak structure. There are no exemptions to this restriction

The restriction is scheduled to commence on 11 October 2025 and continue in force for 18 months. A permanent restriction with the same effect is also proposed

(Footpath 45, Myland) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close the Footpath 45, Myland in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Footpath 44, north for approximately 230 metres.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29 September 2025 to 29 March 2026 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while construction works are undertaken

Alternative route: will be via a path in the adjacent field to the east, the other side of the hedge.

The Order will come into effect on 29 September 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temple Subway, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Temple Subway in the City of Colchester, the entire length of the subway will be closed.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 06 October 2025 to 29th December 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while the refurbishment of the Subway takes place.

Alternative route via: Station Way, Colne Bank Avenue, Westway southbound.

The Order will come into effect on 06 October 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Barbrook Lane, Tiptree)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Barbrook Lane, Tiptree in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 55m north west of its junction with Grove Road for a distance of approximately 40m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30038906983 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via Barbrook Lane, Green Lane, Grove Road, Barbrook Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Birchwood Road, Dedham)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Birchwood Road, Dedham in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Ardleigh Road for a distance of approximately of 1235m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 4 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387555 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repairs works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via B1029, Church Road, Upper Street, Lower Street, Stratford Road, Gun Hill, Dedham Road, Whalebone Corner, Dedham Road, Boxted Straight Road, Straight Road, Langham Road, Langham Lane, Park Lane, Wick Road, Birchwood Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Clay Lane, St. Osyth)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Clay Lane, St. Osyth in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 345m south west of its junction with Heath Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30092114369 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new service works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via B1027, A1441, Rectory Road, Heath Road and vice versa (with access only into Clay Lane).

The order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Cross Hill, Beaumont)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Cross Hill, Beaumont in the District of Tendring, from its junction with Red Barn Lane for a distance of approximately 810m in a south then south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th October 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2388321 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ditch clearance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

(Hamlet Drive, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hamlet Drive, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Avon Way for a distance of approximately 40m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th October 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (YN10084095-ERI-STM-ARB – MBNL). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while maintenance works are undertaken by MBNL.

An alternative route is available via Hamlet Drive, Magnolia Drive, Avon Way and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Takeleys, Mount Bures)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Takeleys, Mount Bures in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Hall Road to its junction with Dowling Road a distance of approximately 450m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 30th October 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387560 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Dowling Road, Bells Hill, Peartree Hill, B1508, Hall Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Tollgate West, Stanway)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Tollgate West, Stanway in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Western Approach Roundabout for a distance of approximately 200m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP40050229496 – Tollgate Partnerships). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Tollgate Partnerships.

An alternative route is available via Tollgate West, Tollgate Road, London Road, Western Approach and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Colchester Road, Layer Breton)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Colchester Road, Layer Breton in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Lower Road to its junction with Layer Road a distance of approximately 2200m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2350018 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via B1026, Gosbecks Road, Cunobelin Way, B1022, Orpen’s Farm, School Hill, Birch Street, Layer Breton Hill and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Hilliards Road, Great Bromley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Hilliards Road, Great Bromley in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 670m north east then north west of its junction with Stone Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MT002DS0054282) – Affinity Water. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.

An alternative route is available via Badley Hall Road, B1029, Mary Lane North, Stone Road, Hilliards Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(School Lane, Great Horkesley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of School Lane, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 230m north west of its junction with The Causeway for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th October 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03060581580 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while meter exchange works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via London Road, Coach Road, The Causeway and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
