What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 5 (TEAM2100), Canvey Island) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section S14(1) and Part III of Schedule 9 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (as amended).

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 5, Canvey Island, in the Borough of Castle Point from a point approximately in line with the junction of Eastern Esplanade and Maurice Road, east, then north for approximately 1,700 metres (Phase 3).

The closure is scheduled to commence on 29 September 2025 to 27 October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting. The closure is required to allow for works to be carried out on the southern shoreline, mainly Revetment replacement.

Alternative pedestrian routes will be signed as each phase progresses.

The Order will come into effect on 29 September 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months.

(Footpath 05, Hockley) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 5, Hockley in the District of Rochford from a point 20 metres either side (including the footbridge) of the footbridge over the railway track.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 03 October 2025 to 24 November 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footpath crossing upgrade works are undertaken.

No alternative route available.

The Order will come into effect on 03 October 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Footpath 48, Rayleigh and Footpath 2, Hullbridge) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 48, Rayleigh and Footpath 2, Hullbridge in the District of Rochford as below.

(Berry Lane, Langdon Hills) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of Prohibition of Entry) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Berry Lane, Langdon Hills in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Alexander Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a south easterly direction.

  2. To temporarily suspend the ‘Prohibition of Entry’ in that length of Berry Lane, Langdon Hills from its junction with High Road as detailed in “Basildon District Council The District of Basildon (Berry Lane) (Prohibition of Entry) Order 1974” for the duration of the above closure only.

    The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 6 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP0225S0-2337A – Trident Utilities & Civils Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while water connection works are undertaken by Trident Utilities & Civils Ltd.

    An alternative route is available via High Road, St Davids Road, Berry Lane and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Brempsons, Ghyllgrove) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Brempsons, Ghyllgrove in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 100m north east then north west of its junction with Roodegate for a distance of approximately 35m in a north westerly then north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002WG8J603S – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network.

    The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

    No diversion route available.

    The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 12 nights (19:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2373917A – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while traffic signal renewal works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via High Street, Websters Way, Eastwood Road.

    The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Theydon Crescent, Fryerns) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Theydon Crescent, Fryerns in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 50m north east of its junction with Holden Road for a distance of approximately 100m in a north easterly direction and from a point approximately 70m north east of its junction with Holden Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a north westerly direction.

    The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2389276 – Essex County Council).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while footway patching works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via Theydon Crescent, Denys Drive and vice versa.

    The Order will come into effect on 9th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Various Roads, Borough of Basildon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) (No.11) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close that length of road in the Borough of Basildon as specified in the schedule.

    2. A temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ restriction will be introduced on both sides of carriageway on the above length of road for the duration of the closure to facilitate the works. Signs will be installed indicating when the No Waiting restriction will be in force.

    “The Essex County Council (Basildon Borough) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above length of road only. All other restrictions and exemptions contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

    The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 9th October 2025; exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

    (Church Road & Meadow Road, Hadleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close that length of Church Road, Hadleigh in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with to its junction with Broughton Road a distance of approximately 240m.

    2. To temporarily close that length of Meadow Road, Hadleigh in the Borough of Castle Point, from its junction with Church Road to its junction with The Avenue a distance of approximately 100m.

    The closures are scheduled to commence on 13th October 2025 for 62 days (works to be completed in phases), or where stated on a valid permit (EC30002942230 & EC30088555197 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while new services and maintenance works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

    Alternative routes are available via:

    1. Meadow Road, The Avenue, Broughton Road and vice versa.

    2. Church Road, The Avenue, Broughton Road and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Cleveland Road/Clickett Side, Barstable) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close that length of Cleveland Road, Barstable in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Clickett Side for a distance of approximately 35m in an easterly direction.

    2. To temporarily close that length of Clickett Side Barstable in the Borough of Basildon, from its junction with Cleveland Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a southerly direction.

    These closures are scheduled to commence on 13th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411002WG8PPR4G/BC411001WG8PPR4G – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. These closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

    (Maugham Close, Wickford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Maugham Close, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 25m south east then east of its junction with Cedar Avenue for a distance of approximately 25m in an easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 14th October 2025 for 38 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411SA004WG1J102D – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while duct laying works are undertaken by Openreach.

    (Napier Close, Barstable) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Napier Close, Barstable in the Borough of Basildon, for a distance of approximately 20m in a north easterly then easterly direction and for a distance of approximately in a 30m north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th October 2025 for 22 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP003S50-2334FWSW – Entex Projects Ltd). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Entex Projects Ltd.

    (Southend Arterial Road Slip Road from A127 To A130 Eastbound, North Benfleet/Arterial Road Slip Road from A127 To A1245 Eastbound, Rayleigh) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Southend Arterial Road Slip Road from A127 To A130 Eastbound, North Benfleet/Arterial Road Slip Road from A127 To A1245 Eastbound, Rayleigh in the District of Rochford and Borough of Basildon, from the junction of Southend Arterial Road to the junction of Fairglen Interchange a distance of approximately 200m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 13th October 2025 for 5 nights (nights 21:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2392795 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while hedge maintenance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via A127, Rayleigh Weir Roundabout, A127.

    (Southend Arterial Road Slip Road from A132 To A127 Westbound, Cranes Industrial) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Southend Arterial Road Slip Road From A132 To A127 Westbound, Cranes Industrial in the Borough of Basildon, from the junction of Nevendon Road Roundabout to the junction of Southend Arterial Road a distance of approximately 435m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 15th October 2025 for 7 nights (21:00–05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2391439 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while hedge maintenance works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via A132, A1235, A176.

    The Order came into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Swan Lane, Wickford) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Swan Lane, Wickford in the Borough of Basildon, from a point approximately 50m south of its junction with Athelstan Gardens for a distance of approximately 60m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 16th October 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03766031838 – Anglian Water).

    The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while New manhole covers works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

    An alternative route is available via Runwell Road, Runwell Road Roundabout, Church End Lane and vice versa.
