Reading, Temporary Road Restrictions and Parking Suspensions

What is happening?

READING BOROUGH COUNCIL

(CHOLMLEY TERRACE) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council has made an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily suspend the parking bays outside numbers 6 -10 Cholmley Terrace for approx.10m. The Order will come into force from 8th - 10th October 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate pedestrian access during works on the footway.

(ELGAR ROAD SOUTH) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to introduce the following temporary restrictions on Elgar Road South:

  • Suspend the parking bays outside numbers 220 - 222.

  • Suspend the double yellow line restrictions from outside number 220 to outside Park View apartments.

  • Suspend the single yellow line restriction from opposite number 220 to Park View apartments.

  • Impose a no stopping, waiting or loading at any time restriction from outside and opposite number 224 to Park View.

If made, the Order will come into force from 13 - 17 October 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate electricity works.

(QUEENS ROAD, READING & VARIOUS ROADS) (TEMPORARY ROAD RESTRICTIONS) ORDER 2025

Reading Borough Council intend to make an Order in accordance with section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The effect of which will be to temporarily close the length of Queens Road, Reading for approximately 50 metres between Kings Road, 149 Kings Road to 124 Queens Road, suspend the single direction restrictions on St John’s Hill and St John’s Street and suspend the parking bays at the side of numbers 102 and 128 Queens Road.

If made, the Order will come into force from 21:00hrs on 15 October to 05:00hrs on 16 October 2025. Should the works take longer than expected the restriction will remain in force for up to 18 months or until the completion of the works, whichever is earlier. The Order is necessary to facilitate telecoms cabling and maintenance. A signed diversion route will be in place throughout the duration of the works.
