ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 –

SECTION 14(1) (AS AMENDED)

The North York Moors National Park Authority has made an Order, the effect of which is to make the following closure in the parishes of Sneaton and Fylingdales in the county of North Yorkshire:

Public Footpath 22 Sneaton: (A - D)

No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ 8973 0339 (Point A – junction with Public Footpath 23 Sneaton and the U2337 May Beck road), in a generally north-easterly & northerly direction for 900 metres to Grid Reference NZ 9010 0408 (Point D – junction with the B1416 road).

Public Footpath 23 Sneaton: (A - B)

No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ 8973 0339 (Point A – junction with Public Footpath 22 Sneaton and the U2337 May Beck road),  in a generally easterly & then south-easterly direction for 520 metres to Grid Reference NZ 9016 0321 (Point B – junction with Public Footpath 562 Fylingdales).

Public Footpath 562 Fylingdales (part of): (B - C)

No pedestrian shall proceed along this footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ 9016 0321 (Point B – junction with Public Footpath 23 Sneaton), in a generally northerly & then north-easterly direction for 1,020 metres to Grid Reference NZ 9070 0396 (Point C – junction with the B1416 road).

An alternative route for the Coast to Coast National Trail is available by following the U2337 May Beck road north to the junction with the B1416 road and then turning to proceed south-easterly to the U2346 road (Raikes Lane) and then following that to Sneatonthorpe.

The order is necessary due to the hazard posed to the public from the adjacent on-going moorland fire affecting the area. The closure will be put into effect by means of the erection of notices and signs.
