Wiltshire - Multiple Temporary Road Closures and Speed Restrictions due to Works

What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) C50 (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with New Inn Lane for a distance of approximately 35m in a northerly direction to enable Davis Groundworks Ltd to carry out new foul connection via trench and associated works. Alternative route via C50 (unaffected length) – C8 – C51 – C60 – C50 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 27 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 07 November 2025. For further information please contact Davis Groundworks Ltd on 01225 891736.

B) Summer Lane, Grittleton and Castle Combe; from its junction with C71 to its junction with C151 to enable Wessex Water to carry out washout installation works and other associated works. Alternative route via C151 – B4039 – C71 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 27 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. C) St Marys Street (Part), Malmesbury; from its junction with Oxford Lane to its junction with Gloucester Road to enable Openreach to carry out underground cabling works and other associated works. Alternative route via Gloucester Road – Bristol Street – West Street – St Marys Street (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 27 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 3 days. D) Stones Lane (Part), Cricklade; from its property known as Hailstone Farm for a distance of approximately 450m in a south easterly direction to enable Mundy Groundworks Limited to carry out installation of new electrical ducting and associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 27 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 17:00 until 21 November 2025. E) C136 (Part), Derry Hill and Studley; from its junction with Lansdowne Crescent for a distance of approximately 140m in a north easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out work to install a new connection and other associated works. Alternative route via C136 (unaffected length) – A4 – A342 – C136 (unaffected length) and vice versa. F) C99 (Part), Minety; from its junction with C100 for a distance of approximately 250m in a south westerly direction to allow Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge inspection work and other associated works. Alternative route via C99 (unaffected length) – C101 – C90 – C75 – C99 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00 for 1 day. G) C52 (Part), Manningford, Wilcot, Huish and Oare; from its junction with C261 for a distance of approximately 300m in a northerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing. Alternative route via C52 (unaffected length) – C8 – C261 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 09 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. H) Westmead Lane (Part), Chippenham; from outside its property known as No.02 Avonside for a distance of approximately 11m in a southerly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out reinstatement works and other associated works. No alternative route is available. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. I) Peaks Down Lane (Part), Baydon; from its junction with Baydon Road for a distance of approximately 265m in a northerly direction to enable National Highways to carry out excavation of trial pits to determine condition of bridge deck waterproofing and structural concrete, and to obtain information for design of bridge deck refurbishment. Alternative route via Peaks Down Lane (unaffected length) – Goor Lane – Baydon Road and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 16:00 for 3 days. J) Trow Lane (Part), Brinkworth; from its junction with the right of way known as Footpath 2, Brinkworth for a distance of approximately 70m in a northerly direction to enable Network Rail Infrastructure Ltd to carry out bridge repairs and other associated works. Alternative route via Trow Lane (unaffected length) – C108 – C76 – A3102 – Trow Lane (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 17 October 2025. K) Brewers Lane (Part), Calne; from its junction with London Road for a distance of approximately 127m in a south westerly direction to enable Wales & West Utilities to carry out pipe replacement works and other associated works. Alternative route via Brewers Lane (unaffected length) – Shelburne Road – London Road – New Road – The Strand – Church Street – Mill Street – Anchor Road and vice versa. L) A361 (Part), Devizes and Bishops Cannings; from its junction with Brickley Lane for a distance of approximately 2.5km in a north easterly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway resurfacing works and other associated works. Alternative route via A361 (unaffected length) – A365 – Spa Road – C503 – A3102 – A342 – A3102 – A4 – A361 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 19:00 and 06:00 until 08 November 2025. M) Chandlers Lane (Part), Bishops Cannings; from its junction with Horton Road for a distance of approximately 450m in a northerly direction to enable Scottish and Southern Power Distribution to carry out tree cutting works and other associated works. Alternative route via Chandlers Lane (unaffected length) – West End – A361 – Horton Road and vice versa. This Order which previously came into operation on 25 September 2025 will now recommence on 08 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. Orders A) to L) will have a maximum duration of 18 months, Order M) has a maximum duration of 18 months. The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make an Order to temporarily introduce a 30mph speed restriction on the following length of road: A3102 (Part), Calne; from its roundabout junction with Stickleback Road to its roundabout junction with Oxford Road to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out 30 mph speed restriction to accommodate carriageway reconfiguration works. The speed restrictions will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This speed limit restrictions will come into operation on 28 October 2025 and will be required until 13 February 2026. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. The Order will have a maximum duration of 18 months. (TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF TRAFFIC) ORDER (No.58) 2025 (Ref TTRO 10691)

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily, to all vehicles, the lengths of roads specified in the Schedule to this notice. The order is required to enable carriageway patching, surface dressing, and other associated maintenance works and will be operative from the 06 October 2025 for a maximum period of 18 months. The closures are anticipated to be for up to 5 days but only when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessitated by the works.

It is anticipated that advance signs will be deployed 2 weeks prior to the closure dates. Access will be maintained where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The closures are anticipated to take place between 06 October 2025 and 05 January 2026.

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users: Footpath 1 (Part), Hullavington; for a distance of approximately 40m either side of the bridge, to enable regrade and concrete resurface of the underpass. No alternative route is available. The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs. This order which previously came into operation on 15 September 2025 will now recommence on 06 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 10 October 2025. Access will be maintained where possible although delays are likely due to the nature of the works.
