Department for Infrastructure - Experimental Traffic Control Scheme – Bus Lanes – Belfast City Centre and Greater Belfast Area

What is happening?

The Department for Infrastructure (DfI) proposes to make the Experimental Traffic Control Scheme – Bus Lanes – Belfast
City Centre and Greater Belfast Area for a period of 6 months

The scheme will amend the operational times of inbound bus lanes in the Belfast City Centre and Greater Belfast area on
Ballynahinch Road, Botanic Avenue, Great Victoria Street (Shaftesbury Square to Bruce Street), Saintfield Road,
Shaftesbury Square, Stranmillis Road, Upper Malone Road, Malone Road and Lisburn Road (Tates Avenue to
Jubilee Road) from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. Monday to Friday to 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. Monday to
Friday inclusive.
The scheme will also extend the operational times of the bus lanes on Ormeau Road from 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. (inbound)
and from 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. (outbound) Monday to Friday to 7.30 a.m. to 9.30 a.m. and 3.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. in both
directions Monday to Friday inclusive.
Vehicles are excepted from the restrictions in certain circumstances.

of charge during office hours within the period below at DfI TRAM Eastern Division, Hydebank House, 4a Hospital Road,
Ballydollaghan, Belfast, BT8 8JL or viewed online at

Inspection of the draft scheme and maps is by appointment only which can be arranged either by email using traffic.

Any person may object or make other representations, specifying the grounds on which they are made, by writing to the

date of publication of this Notice.
