Notice of Confirmation of Definitive Map Modification Order
Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 – Section 53
The Definitive Map and Statement for the Former Caradon District Area
The Cornwall Council (Addition of a Footpath at Metherell in the Parish of Calstock) Modification Order 2021
On 19 August 2025, the Secretary of State for the Environment confirmed the above order made under section 53(2)(b) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
The effect of the Order as confirmed is to modify the Definitive Map and Statement for the area by:
Adding a length of Public Footpath in the Parish of Calstock commencing at Footpath 9 Calstock approximately 17 metres north-west of ‘Lower Brookland Farm’ at Ordnance Survey Grid Reference (OSGR)SX 4094/6947 then running in a generally south-easterly direction for a distance of 462 metres to its junction with a section of Footpath to be added by this Order approximately 196 metres north-west of ‘Newton Farm’ at OSGR SX 4131/6921 and by adding a further length of Public Footpath in the Parish of Calstock commencing at a Public Footpath to be added by this Order approximately 196 metres north-west of ‘Newton Farm’ at OSGR SX4131/6921 then running in a generally easterly then south-easterly then east-north-easterly direction for a distance of 238 metres to its junction with Unclassified Road (U6168) approximately 42 metres north-east of ‘Newton Farm’ at OSGR 4149/6909.

Copies of the Order and Map may also be requested by email from PROWOrders@cornwall.gov.uk or by telephoning 0300 1234 202. A copy of the Order and Map has also been placed and may be seen free of charge at Callington Library and Information Service, Coronation Road, Callington PL17 7DR from 1.00pm to 5.00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 9.00am to 1.00 pm on Fridays and from 10.00am to 1.00pm on Saturdays. A copy may also be viewed at the Offices of Cornwall Council at New County Hall, Treyew Road, Truro, TR1 3AY on 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Monday to Friday (Bank Holidays excepted).
The Order comes into force on the day that it is confirmed but if any person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity on the ground that that it is not within the powers of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, or on the ground that any requirement of Schedule 15 of the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may under paragraph 12 (1) of Schedule 15 to the Act within six weeks from 8th October 2025, make application to the High Court.
