What is happening?

TRAFFIC ORDER

On 29/09/2025 Angus Council made The Angus Council (South Street, Forfar) (Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Waiting) Order 2025, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, so that gas main replacement works may be undertaken. The Order will come into force on Monday 06 October 2025, from which date it is anticipated that the work will last for a period of seven days. However, the maximum duration in terms of the Act is 18 months. The effect of the Order is to prohibit the driving and waiting of vehicles on (1) East High Street, Forfar (westbound lane only) from its junction with Brender Ha’ westwards for a distance of 55 metres or thereby and (2) South Street, Forfar from its junction with East High Street, southwards for a distance of 48 metres or thereby. Access for pedestrians and emergency vehicles will be maintained. The alternative route for vehicular traffic is via Strang Street, Arbroath Road (A932) and East High Street (A932). The reverse route applies. An alternative route for HGV traffic avoiding the left turn at North Street/East High street is via Market Street, Castle Street, Queenswell Road, Craig O’ Loch Road, West High Street and East High Street, Forfar.
