Westlinton, Temporary Road Closures Due To Utility Works

What is happening?

CUMBERLAND COUNCIL (C1009, WESTLINTON) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable utility works to be carried out (“the Works”), Cumberland Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following sections of road:

Phase 1 – C1009, Westlinton from its junction with the A6071, extending in an overall south westerly direction for approx. 2.5km.

Duration: From 15 October 2025 until 29 October 2025.

Phase 2 – C1009, Westlinton from a point 270 metres south east of its junction with the A7, extending in a south easterly direction for approx. 840m.

Duration: From 29 October 2025 until 15 January 2026.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times and a suitable alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the C1009, A7 Westlinton to Longtown and the A6071.

The Order will come into operation on 15 October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months.

However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as stated above, and only as and when the appropriate traffic signs are displayed.
