Barnes Spooktacular - Temporary Traffic Regulation
What is happening?
THE CITY OF SUNDERLAND (BARNES SPOOKTACULAR) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER 2025
Sunderland City Council gives notice that it intends to make an Order under Section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which is to temporarily prohibit all waiting, loading and unloading along the roads in Schedule 1 and to prohibit all vehicles except for permit holders from the roads in Schedule 2. The Order is required because there is a likelihood of danger to the public due to a fireworks display known as the ‘Barnes Spooktacular’ taking place near the roads. The Order will come into force at 15:00pm on 31st October 2025 and will cease to have effect at 22:00pm on 31st October 2025. However, it is anticipated that the roads will be reopened by approximately 21:00p.m. During the closures in Schedule 2 all vehicles will be prohibited from those roads except for resident permit holders. An exemption will be provided for emergency service vehicles on duty and attending an emergency call and vehicles involved in the event for the restrictions in Schedule 1 and closures in Schedule 2. The prohibitions and restrictions shall only apply at such times and to such extent as may from time to time be indicated by the display of traffic signs. SCHEDULE 1 PROHIBITION OF WAITING AND LOADING/UNLOADING AT ANY TIME Barnes Park Road, both sides, between Durham Road and Mount Road. Ettrick Grove, both sides from the junction of Durham Road to the junction of Mount Road. Hurstwood Road, both sides from the junction of Barnes Park Road to the junction of Dunbreck Grove. SCHEDULE 2 PROHIBITION OF VEHICLES, EXCEPT PERMIT HOLDERS Barnes View, for its entire extent. Mount Road South Back, for its entire extent. Colchester Terrace, between Mount Road South Back and Barnes View. Farnham Terrace, between Mount Road and Barnes View.
