Bridleway No.3 And Footpath No.2 And No.21 - Temporary Closure To Reduce Flooding Risk

What is happening?

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF BRIDLEWAY AND FOOTPATHS

THE NOTTINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL
(WEST BRIDGFORD BRIDLEWAY NO.3 AND FOOTPATH NO.2 AND NO.21)
(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Nottinghamshire County Council intends not less than seven days from the date of this Notice to make an Order, under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be:-

No person shall: -

(a) proceed on foot,

(b) cause any pedal cycle to proceed,

(c) cause any horse to proceed and

(d) cause any animal to proceed, in the following length of bridleway at West Bridgford in the Borough of Rushcliffe :- West Bridgford Bridleway No. 3 a short section from the Golf Course Road to the junction with West Bridgford Footpath No.21.

And No person shall: -

(a) Proceed on foot, in the following lengths of Footpath at West Bridgford in the Borough of Rushcliffe :-

West Bridgford Footpath No. 2 and No.21 short section from the junction with bridleway No.3 to the Gamston Lings Bar Road A52

The plan also shows Footpath No.4 from Tollerton closed as the end of this path will bring users out onto the A52 with no safe route to cross and connect on the Edwalton Golf Course side of the road

IT IS INTENDED that the prohibition will apply as follows:-

From 13th October 2025 until 1st December 2025 inclusive.

AND NOTICE IS HEREBY FURTHER GIVEN that during the period of restriction the contractor will be providing a safe route for path users alongside the legal line of Bridleway No.3 and Footpath No.21, with a controlled gated crossing point for vehicle movements, to enable path users to reach the A52 and continue across on the bridleway to Tollerton.

The prohibition shall apply to enable works to be carried out and in respect of the likelihood of danger to the public and damage to the paths. It may also apply on subsequent days when it shall be necessary. If the works are not completed within 6 months, the Order may be extended.

The prohibition is required to enable construction of balancing ponds on the golf course to reduce flooding risk, and in respect of the likelihood of danger to the public and damage to the paths.

THIS CLOSURE WILL ONLY TAKE EFFECT WHEN SIGNS INDICATING CLOSURE ARE DISPLAYED

THIS NOTICE IS DATED THIS 1ST DAY OF OCTOBER 2025.
