WIGAN COUNCIL

Gawsworth Road, Golborne –  Temporary Closure

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Gawsworth Road, Golborne) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Gawsworth Road, Golborne during the period of 15th of December 2025 to 23rd of December 2025.

Please note there is no alternative route available, however access will be maintained for residents where possible.

The Order is necessary to allow works to be undertaken for the replacement of a frame and cover.

Tenbury Drive, Ashton-In-Makerifeld – Temporary Closure

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Assistant Director Infrastructure and Regulatory Services of the Wigan Borough Council in exercise of the powers conferred by Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and delegated to her by the said Council proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Tenbury Drive, Ashton-in-Makerfield) (Temporary Closure) Order 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to prohibit any person from driving a vehicle or causing or permitting a vehicle to be driven on Tenbury Drive, Ashton-in-Makerfield during the period of 20th of October 2025 to 3rd of November 2025.

The alternative route for traffic is: Balliol Way, Low Bank Road and Melford Drive. The Order is necessary to allow works to be undertaken for the installation of a new drainage connection.

Ellesmere Road, Douglas – Prohibition of Waiting and Loading

Notice of Proposals

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Wigan Borough Council, in exercise of the powers under Section 1, 2, 3 and 4 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 and the Traffic Management Act 2004 and of all other enabling powers and after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act 1984, proposes to make the Wigan Borough (Decriminalisation of Parking) (Wigan Roads No.2) (Traffic Regulation Consolidation) Order 2004 (Amendment No.140) Order 2025.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no waiting at any time on:

•    Ellesmere Road, Douglas (North side) from a point 10 metres west of its junction with Spring Green Close to a point 5 metres east of its junction with Spring Green Close

There will be limited exceptions permitting vehicles to wait to enable people to board or alight; for the purpose of building and similar operations, removing obstructions to traffic, road works and works by statutory undertakers; for local authority, Water Companies and Post Office purposes; if the vehicles are fire service or police vehicles or ambulances, (liveried vehicles) or in connection with a funeral; to take on fuel, water or air at any garage; for the delivery or collection of goods and for loading or unloading; or the avoidance of an accident.

The effect of the Order will be to introduce no loading or unloading at any time on:

•    Ellesmere Road, Douglas (North side) from a point 10 metres west of its junction with Spring Green Close to a point 5 metres east of its junction with Spring Green Close

The Order also provides that if any vehicle is left in any road or length of road affected by the Order in contravention of any provision of the Order a penalty charge (in the amount set by the Council) shall be payable and/or the vehicle may be removed.

A copy of the proposed Order, the Order to be amended, the relevant map and a statement of the reasons for proposing to make the Order may be requested by emailing s.eccles-churton@wigan.gov.uk.

Any objection to the Order must be made in writing and specify the grounds thereof and must be made to the Assistant Director – Legal, Governance and Elections Division, Wigan Council, Town Hall, Library Street, Wigan, WN1 1YN or by emailing the above email address quoting reference RD/LS/SEC/4862256 not later than 31st October 2025.
