(A414 between Harlow and Chelmsford
(Temporary 50MPH/40MPH Speed Limit) Order 2025)
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily introduce a 50/40mph speed limit on following lengths of A414 between Harlow and Chelmsford (these roads are national speed limit and 50 MPH).

‘The Borough of Chelmsford (A414 Writtle Bypass) (Derestriction of affected roads) Order 1988’ is hereby temporarily suspended insofar as it relates to the sections of the A414 as above. All other restrictions will remain in force.
The Essex County Council (A414 – Greenbury Way, Chelmsford, Greenbury Way/Margaretting Road Roundabout/Highwood Road Roundabout/Ongar Road West, Writtle, Ongar Road, Highwood) & (Bulimers Way, Writtle) (Temporary Introduction of a 40 MPH speed Restriction) Order 2025 is hereby temporarily revoked.
The temporary restrictions are scheduled to commence on the 29 September 2025 for 18 months.
The Order will come into effect on 29 September 2025 for 18 months or until a permanent Order is made to amend the speed limit.
(Epping Road, Theydon Mount/Stanford Rivers & Tawney Common, Stapleford Tawney)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of Epping Road, Theydon Mount/Stanford Rivers in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 1170m south west of its junction with Hill Crest Road for a distance of approximately 220m in a north westerly then south westerly direction.
2. To temporarily close that length of Tawney Common, Stapleford Tawney in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Epping Road for a distance of approximately 45m in a south westerly direction.
These closures are scheduled to commence on 31 October 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (BC008OGEAA0756102ASB/BC008OGEAA0756102BSB – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. These closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while new communication works are undertaken by Openreach.
Alternative routes are available via:
1. Epping Road, School Road, Toot Hill Road, Greenstead Road, Blake Hall Road, A414, B181, B1393, Stonards Hill, Coopersale Street, Mount Road, Banks Lane, Epping Road and vice versa.
2. Tawney Common, Epping Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Foster Street, North Weald Bassett)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Foster Street, North Weald Bassett in the District of Epping Forest, from its junction with Highfield Close for a distance of approximately 150m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG0RC19Z – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Foster Street, Green Lane, Threshers Bush, Tilegate Road, Workers Road, High Laver Road, Wind Hill, Greenman Road, Hastingwood Road, Canes Lane, Hastingwood Roundabout, A414, London Road, Harlow Common, Foster Street and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Parsloe Road, Epping Upland)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Parsloe Road, Epping Upland in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 85m north east of its junction with Epping Road for a distance of approximately 50m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX06163889JB – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Parsloe Road, B181, B1133, A1169, Paringdon Road, Parsloe Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Spains Hall Road, Willingale)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Spains Hall Road, Willingale in the District of Epping Forest, from a point approximately 440m north west of its junction with Pigstye Green Road for a distance of approximately 25m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 29th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (MX04410262719 – Affinity Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while replacement lid works are undertaken by Affinity Water.
An alternative route is available via Spains Hall Road, Fyfield Road, Willingale Road, Cannons Lane, Queen Street, Ongar Road, Four Wantz Roundabout, High Ongar Road, High Street, High Ongar Road Straightening, Chelmsford Road, Chelmsford Road Straightening, Bassetts Lane, Pigstye Green Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Watlington Road, Harlow)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Watlington Road, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from a point approximately 35m south of its junction with Feryngs Close for a distance of approximately 50m in a westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 27th October 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG8FG81C – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while pole replacement works are undertaken by Openreach.
An alternative route is available via Watlington Road, Mulberry Green, Old Road, Watlington Road and vice versa.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(St Johns Avenue/Old Road/Manor Road/Priory Avenue, Harlow)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order:
1. To temporarily close that length of St Johns Avenue, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Old Road to its junction with Manor Road a distance of approximately 100m.
2. To temporarily close that length of Old Road, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Bury Road to its junction with Priory Avenue a distance of approximately 310m.
3. To temporarily close that length of Manor Road, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Priory Avenue to its junction with The Hill a distance of approximately 165m.
4. To temporarily close that length of Priory Avenue, Harlow in the District of Harlow, from its junction with Old Road to its junction with Station Road a distance of approximately 570m.
The closures are scheduled to commence on 6th October 2025 for 39 days (works to be completed in phases), or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001440579, AZ5011001440632, AZ5011001440627 & AZ5011001440625 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
Alternative routes are available via:
1. High Street, Wayre Street, Station Road, Priory Avenue and vice versa.
2. Station Road, A1184, Old Road, St Johns Avenue and vice versa.
3. Station Road, A1184, Old Road and vice versa.
The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
