A3 TRUNK ROAD (ESHER TO HOOK) TEMPORARY TRAFFIC RESTRICTIONS
Notice is hereby given that National Highways Limited has made an Order on the A3 Trunk Road in the County of Surrey, under Section 14(1)(a) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 to prevent traffic incursion into works being undertaken by Transport for London (TfL).
The effect of the Order is to authorise the phased overnight closure of:–
a) the London-bound carriageway of the A3 between the tip of the nosing of the exit slip road at Esher Common Interchange (A244) and a point 303 metres west of the centreline of the western overbridge at Hook Junction (A243) (the TfL authority boundary);
b) the coast-bound carriageway of the A3 between its divergence from the west-bound carriageway of the Kingston By-pass (A309) (the TfL authority boundary) and the tip of the nosing of the entry slip road at Esher Common Interchange (A244);
c) all slip roads leading to and from the lengths of carriageway above.
These measures are in the interests of road safety while contractors working on behalf of TfL undertake cyclical maintenance on their section of the A3.
It is expected that the first phase of work will start on or after Monday 6th October 2025 for 1 night. The second and third phases will occur at approximately every six months, details to be confirmed by TfL. The overnight closures will take place between 22:00 and 05:00 (maximum period).
The Order will come into force on 4th October 2025 and remain so until December 18th 2026.
Traffic affected by the closures will be diverted using the A244, A307, A309 and Hook Rise North/South as appropriate in each direction.
The temporary closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs when they are in operation during the works period.
