What is happening?
NOTICE OF MAKING PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980 SECTION 118
The Council of the Borough of South Tyneside
Public Footpath, Mortimer Primary School, South Shields, South Tyneside
Public Path Extinguishment Order 2025
The above named Order, made on 25th day of September 2025 under section 118 of the
Highways Act 1980 will extinguish the Public Footpath commencing at Grid Reference NZ
3687, 6507 at the land close to Mortimer Primary School, South Shields and heads north
westerly direction for approximately 16 metres and then turns in a north easterly direction
for approximately 242 metres to finish at Grid Reference NZ 3699, 6527 as shown on the
order map. The width of the path is 1.5 metres.
A copy of the Order and the Order map have been placed on deposit and may be inspected
free of charge at the office of South Tyneside Council, Town Hall & Civic Offices, Highways
and Infrastructure, Westoe Road, South Shields, Tyne & Wear, NE33 2RL from 10 a.m. to 3
p.m. Mondays to Fridays. Copies of the Order and map may be bought there at a price of £10.
Any representation or objection relating to the Order must be sent in writing to the Public
Rights of Way Officer, South Tyneside Council, Town Hall & Civic Offices, Department of Area
Management, Westoe Road, South Shields, Tyne & Wear, NE33 2RL no later than 29th October 2025, and applicants are requested to state the grounds on which it is made.
If no representations or objections are duly made to the Order, or if any are made but withdrawn, South Tyneside Council shall confirm the Order itself instead of submitting the order to the Secretary of State. If the Order is submitted to the Secretary of State all representations or objections received and not withdrawn will be sent with the Order.
