What is happening?

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council intends to make Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

A) C189 (Part), Baydon; from its junction with Ridgeway View for a distance of approximately 95m in a north easterly direction to enable Openreach to carry out install new u-bend from pole to joint box. Alternative route via C189 (unaffected length) – C146 – C29 – C189 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 23 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. B) C76 (Part), Tockenham; from its junction with A3102 for a distance of approximately 670m in a northerly direction to enable Gigaclear to carry out blockage clearance works and other associated works. Alternative route via C76 (unaffected length) – Whitehill Lane – A3102 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 20 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 3 days. C) B4039 (Part), Grittleton and Castle Combe; from its junction with C71 to outside its property known as Manor House Golf Club to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing works and other associated works. Alternative route via B4039 (unaffected length) – C153 – A420 – A46 – B4040 – B4039 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 19 October 2025 and the closure will be required for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 023 2023.

D) C178 (Part), Grittleton; from its junction with C86 for a distance of approximately 300m in a north easterly direction to enable Thornbury Surfacing Ltd to carry out S278 works – to plane off and resurface the surface course for the full road width of the carriageway. Alternative route via C178 (unaffected length) – C154 – C72 – C86 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 23 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:00 for 2 days. Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made Orders to close temporarily to all traffic:

E) C120 (Part), Clyffe Pypard; from its junction with UC 077692 for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction to enable Thames Water to carry out works to install a pillar for pressure monitoring and other associated works. Alternative route via C120 (unaffected length) – C15 – C415 – C121 – C120 (unaffected length) and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 02 October 2025 and the closure will be required until 06 October 2025.

F) Seend Head, Seend; from its junction with A361 to its junction with Row Lane.

G) Row Lane (Part), Seend; from its junction with Seend Head to its property known as Seend Row Farm to enable Openreach to carry out access to overhead networks, cabling for new customer and associated works. Alternative route via Row Lane (unaffected length) – C226 – A361 and vice versa. This Order will come into operation on 01 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. H) Widdington Road (Part), Upavon; from its junction with A342 for a distance of approximately 180m in a south westerly direction to enable Openreach to carry out tree cutting.

This Order will come into operation on 29 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:30 for 1 day. For further information please contact Openreach on 0800 028 2229.

I) Church Road (Part), Woodborough; from its property known as no.08 Bondsfield for a distance of approximately 17m in a northerly direction.

J) Church Farm Lane (Part), Woodborough; from its junction with Church Road for a distance of approximately 26m in an easterly direction to enable Wessex Water to carry out section 81 defect, repair/replace cover and frame and other associated works.

No alternative route is available.

This Order will come into operation on 29 September 2025 and the closure will be required for 2 days. For further information please contact Wessex Water 0345 6004600.

K) The Tarters, Sherston; from its junction with Gastons Lane for its entire length to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out carriageway repair works and other associated works.

This Order will come into operation on 03 October 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:00 and 15:30 for 1 day. For further information please contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0100.

L) C249 (Part), Devizes; from its junction with UC 016301 for a distance of approximately 150m in a westerly direction to enable Wiltshire Council to carry out masonry works to install a new gully and other associated works. Alternative route via C249 (unaffected length) – A361 – A342 – C249 (unaffected length) and vice versa.

This Order will come into operation on 30 September 2025 and the closure will be required between the hours of 09:30 and 15:00 for 3 days. For further information please contact Wiltshire Council on 0300 456 0105.

Orders A) to L) will have a maximum duration of 18 months.

The closures and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions.

SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users:

Footpath 1 (Part), Chippenham; from its junction with Bath Road to its junction with Footpath 78, Chippenham to enable CCTV survey and cleansing of the syphon. To do so, we will need access to the over pump and the sewage from MH located in Lovers Walk. Alternative route via existing public rights of way and highways.

The closure and diversion route will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This Order which previously came into operation on 21 July 2025 will now recommence on 29 September 2025 and the closure will be required until 10 October 2025. It is anticipated that the works will take the stated duration to complete depending upon weather conditions. Access will be maintained for residents and businesses where possible, although delays are likely due to the nature of the works. The Order has a maximum duration of 06 months. SECTION 14(1) OF THE ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984

Notice is hereby given that the Wiltshire Council has made an Order to close temporarily to all users:

A) Footpath 36 (Part), Devizes; from its junction with Conscience Lane for a distance of approximately 320m in a northerly direction.

B) Footpath 63 (Part), Devizes; from its junction with Conscience Lane for a distance of approximately 305m in a north westerly direction to enable National Grid visual impact scheme involving the removal of overhead power lines and installing them underground.

No alternative route is available.

The closure will be clearly indicated by traffic signs.

This Order which was due to expire on 29 September 2025 will now continue in force until 29 September 2026 or until completion of the works, whichever is earliest. The Order will have a maximum duration of 12 months.

Notice is hereby given that Wiltshire Council proposes to make the above Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 the effect of which will be as follows:

Orders 1, 2 and 3 – To revoke and re-enact the following Orders:

  • Under Order 1 – The County of Wiltshire (Various Roads (West Cepen Way), Chippenham and Chippenham Without) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2016;

  • Under Order 2 – The County of Wiltshire (A4 Bath Road and UC 897202, Chippenham and Corsham) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2012;

  • Under Order 3 – The County of Wiltshire (B4643, Melksham Road and B4528, Showell, Chippenham and Lacock) (40mph Speed Limit) Order 2022.

And to introduce a 40mph Speed Limit on the following lengths of road:

  • A350 West Cepen Way (North and South bound) – from a point 30 metres north of Brook Roundabout to a point 37 metres north of Bumpers Farm Roundabout;

  • A420 Bristol Road – from its junction with Bumpers Farm Roundabout to a point 50 metres north west of that junction;

  • Stainers Way – from its junction with Bumpers Farm Roundabout to a point 30 metres south west of that junction;

  • A350 West Cepen Way (Northbound) – from a point 260 metres north of Cepen Park South Roundabout to a point 120 metres south of Chequers Roundabout;

  • A350 West Cepen Way (Southbound) – from a point 30 metres north of Cepen Park South Roundabout to a point 120 metres south of Chequers Roundabout;

  • Sandown Drive – From its junction with Cepen Park South Roundabout to a point 30 metres south of that junction;

  • A4 Bath Road – From its junction with Chequers Roundabout to a point 325 metres west of that junction.

Order 4 – To introduce a 50mph Speed Limit on the following lengths of road:

  • A350 West Cepen Way (southbound) – from a point 750 metres north of Cepen Park South Roundabout to a point 30 metres north of that roundabout;

  • A350 (Southbound) – from a point 15 metres north of its junction with Lackham Roundabout to a point 160 metres south of Lackham Roundabout;

    A350 (Northbound) – from a point 160 metres south of Lackham Roundabout up to and including Southpoint Roundabout;

    B4528 Showell – from the A350 Lackham Roundabout to a point 20 metres north of that junction.

    Copies of the draft Orders, plans and Statement of the Council’s Reasons for proposing to make the Orders may be inspected at the offices of Wiltshire Council, County Hall, Bythesea Road, Trowbridge during normal office hours.     The above order, made on 11 September 2025 under Section 26 of the Highways Act 1980, will create a public bridleway over land situated at Restrop Farm, Purton in the parish of Purton, leading from at OS Grid Reference SU 0784-8675 in a broadly northerly direction for approximately 5m, then broadly east for approximately 151m, then broadly south east for approximately 47m, then north east for approximately 17m to meet Mud Lane at OS Grid Reference SU 0802-8678, having a width of 4m.

    If confirmed the order will also have the effect of modifying the Cricklade and Wootton Bassett Rural District Council Area Definitive Map and Statement dated 1952.

If confirmed the order will also have the effect of modifying the Cricklade and Wootton Bassett Rural District Council Area Definitive Map and Statement dated 1952.
