What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Maldon Bypass, Heybridge/Maldon) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & (Market Hill, Maldon) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Maldon Bypass, Heybridge/Maldon in the District of Maldon, from the junction of Spital Road Roundabout to the junction of Pond Roundabout a distance of approximately 1730m.

  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of Market Hill, Maldon, from its junction with Fullbridge Quay to its junction with High Street as detailed in “The Essex County Council (Market Hill, Maldon) (7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2009” for the duration of the closure only.

The closure/restriction is scheduled to commence on 20th October 2025 for 4 nights (21:00-05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (EP20107744438 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/restriction is required for the safety of the public and workforce while bridge joint repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Spital Road, High Street, Market Hill, Fullbridge, Maldon Bypass, and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 20th October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months from that date.

(Wantz Road, Maldon)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Suspension of One Way) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Wantz Road, Maldon in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Mill Road to its junction with High Street a distance of approximately 600m.

  2. To temporarily suspend the one-way restriction in that length of Wantz Road, Maldon in the District of Maldon from its junction with Queen Street to its junction with High Street as detailed in ‘The Essex County Council (Wantz Road, Maldon) (One Way) Order 2018’ for the duration of the above closure only.

The closure/suspension is scheduled to commence on 20th October 2025 for 103 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AZ5011001437348 – Cadent). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new service works are undertaken by Cadent.

An alternative route is available via High Street, Fambridge Road, Limebrook Way, Mundon Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Crouch Road & Lilian Road, Burnham-on-Crouch)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close that length of Crouch Road, Burnham-on-Crouch District of Maldon, from a point approximately 20m south east of its junction with Station Road to a distance of approximately 60m in a south easterly direction.

    1. To temporarily close that length of Lilian Road, Burnham-on-Crouch District of Maldon, from its junction with Crouch Road for a distance of approximately 10m in a north easterly direction.

    The closures are scheduled to commence on 7th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN014M140086 & EN014M140086A – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while valve renewal works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

    An alternative route is available via Albert Road, Western Road, Station Road, Devonshire Road and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Tiptree Road, Great Braxted)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic & Temporary Introduction of a Clearway) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order:

    1. To temporarily close that length of Tiptree Road, Great Braxted in the District of Maldon, from its junction with Bung Row to its junction with Granville Close a distance of approximately 285m.

    2. To temporarily introduce a ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping’ in the above length of road for the duration of the closure only.

    “The Essex County Council (Maldon District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019” will be temporarily amended to include the temporary ‘No Waiting, No Loading and No Stopping at Any Time’ restriction and suspend any existing parking and waiting restrictions on the above lengths of roads only. All other restrictions and enforcements contained in the aforementioned Order and Amendments to that Order shall remain in force.

    The closure/clearway is scheduled to commence on 6th October 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2389134 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure/clearway is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage improvement works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

    An alternative route is available via Tiptree Road, Braxted Park Road, B1022, Mountains Road, Beacons Lane, Braxted Road, Tiptree Road and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

    (Top Road, Woodham Walter)

    (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

    Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

    Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Top Road, Woodham Walter in the District of Maldon, from its junction with The Street for a distance of approximately 30m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EN0133139839 – Essex And Suffolk Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new connection works are undertaken by Essex And Suffolk Water.

    An alternative route is available via Little Baddow Road, The Street and vice versa.

    The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
