What is happening?

Somerset Council A358 Williton Road, Bishops Lydeard in the Parishes of Combe Florey and West Bagborough (Temporary 30mph Speed Limit) Order 2025

Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under Section 14 (1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 as amended, intends to make an Order, the effect of which will be to introduce a temporary 30mph Speed Limit as specified in the Schedule below. This Order will come into operation on the 9th day of October 2025 and will remain in force for eighteen months. The Works are expected to commence on the 10th day of October 2025 for one day (between 08:00 hours and 16:00 hours) to enable Openreach to carry out pole testing works.

The restriction will only apply when indicated by traffic signs. Exemptions are provided in the Order for emergency vehicles. Schedule Temporary 30mph Speed Limit A358 Williton Road, Bishops Lydeard From a point 87 metres south of the junction with Holford Lane in a southerly direction for a distance of 700 metres

Statement of reasons for making the Order a) because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road or b) because of the likelihood of danger to the public, or of serious damage to the road, which is not attributable to such works.
