NOTICE OF CONFIRMATION OF AN ORDER
HIGHWAYS ACT 1980
PUBLIC PATH EXTINGUISHMENT ORDER 2025
FOOTPATH 25 GREAT CLACTON
On 11 September 2025 the Secretary of State for the Environment, Food & Rural Affairs confirmed the above order made under section 118A of the Highways Act 1980. The effect of the order as confirmed as shown on the order map is to extinguish the entire length of Footpath 25 Great Clacton of unknown width shown by a bold continuous line on the order map commencing from Telford Road following a natural surfaced path in a north then east south easterly then generally north then north easterly direction where it crosses the railway line for a total distance of approximately 660 metres where it terminates at Sladbury’s Lane.

to arrange a suitable time to inspect the documents quoting the Order title. and have also been sent to Tendring District Council.The route shall be stopped up with effect from 25 September 2025, but if a person aggrieved by the order wants to question its validity, or that of any provision contained in it, on the ground that it is not within the powers of the Highways Act 1980, as amended, or on the ground that any requirement of the Act, as amended, or of any regulation made under the Act has not been complied with in relation to the Order, he or she may, under paragraph 2 of Schedule 2 to the Act as applied by paragraph 5 of Schedule 6 to the Act, within 6 weeks from 25 September 2025 make an application to the High Court.
(Nayland Drive, Clacton-On-Sea)
(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Nayland Drive, Clacton-On-Sea in the District of Tendring, from a point approximately 180m south west of its junction with Hadleigh Road for a distance of approximately 110m in a south westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th October 2025 for 12 days, or where stated on a valid permit (BC411001WG7W6H6J – Openreach). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while ducting works are undertaken by Openreach.
No alternative route is available.
The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
(Clacton Road, Mistley/Long Road, Mistley/Lawford) (Temporary Suspension of 7.5 Tonne Weight Restriction) Order 2025
Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.
Effect of the order: To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that Clacton Road, Mistley/Long Road, Mistley/Lawford in the District of Tendring, from its junction with the A137 to its junction with the A120 as detailed in the “The Essex County Council (North East Essex) (Prohibition of Heavy Commercial Vehicles) Order 1989”. The suspension is scheduled to commence on 12th October 2025 for 80 nights (21:00 – 05:00), or where stated on a valid permit (FN40642039610-01 – National Highways). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The suspension is required for the safety of the public and workforce to facilitate A12 diversion route on behalf of National Highways.
The Order came into effect on 25th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
