What is happening?

Essex County Council

(Footpath 79, Braintree) (Temporary Prohibition of Use) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close Footpath 79 in the District of Braintree, from its junction with New Street West to its junction with St Michaels Lane for approximately 48 metres.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 07 October 2025 to 22 October 2025 or where appropriate signs are showing and weather permitting.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while installation of electricity cabling is undertaken.

Alternative route: New Street, South Street, St Michaels Lane and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 07 October 2025 and may continue in force for 6 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Toppesfield Road, Finchingfield/Gainsford End, Toppesfield) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of Toppesfield Road, Finchingfield/Gainsford End, Toppesfield in the District of Braintree, from the junction of Wethersfield Road to the junction of Gainsford Hall Road a distance of approximately 3920m. The closure is scheduled to commence on 21st October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2390799 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway repair works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via B1053, High Street, Hedingham Hill, Hedingham Road, Wethersfield Road, Morris Green Road, Bar Hall Road, Toppesfield Road, Carters Hill, Gainsford End Road, Gainsford End and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) (SW2) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close those lengths of road in the District of Braintree as specified in the Schedule.

The works being undertaken will take place within an 18-month period from 2nd October 2025; exact dates will be specified on One.Network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase of works and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while micro ducting works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

**(St Michaels Lane, Braintree and Bocking)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025**

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council has made the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order: To temporarily close that length of St Michaels Lane, Braintree and Bocking in the District of Braintree, from a point approximately 65m north west of its junction with St Michaels Road for a distance of approximately 70m in a north westerly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 7th October 2025 for 16 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EC30065943450 – UK Power Networks). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new supply works are undertaken by UK Power Networks.

An alternative route is available via High Street, St Michaels Road.

The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.
