OXFORDSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

Notice of Temporary Traffic Order

Didcot, South Moreton and Little Wittenham

Public Footpaths & Bridleways near Didcot

Numbers 189/23/10, 354/16/10, 354/3/10, 287/18/10, 283/6/10

Prohibition of Through Traffic

Date of Order: 29 September 2025

Coming into force: 1 October 2025

This Order is being introduced because of footpath surfacing works which are anticipated to take 6 months to complete.

The effect of the Order is to temporarily prohibit the public using Public Footpaths & Bridleways near Didcot (Numbers FP.189/23/10, Bridleway 354/16/10, Bridleway 354/3/10, FP.287/18/10, and FP.283/6/10) between Ladygrove and Little Wittenham. Appropriate traffic signs will be displayed to indicate when the measures are in force. Exemptions are included for emergency services and for the works and for access to premises which are only accessible from the closed sections. There will be no alternative off-road routes, but the paths will only be closed when work is taking place. They will be closed by clear highways signage where the works are taking place only, and all other available routes will remain open for use.

The works are expected to take 2-3 weeks at a time and done in phases rather than a full closure of all routes but may be affected by weather conditions, meaning for much of the 6-month period there will be no works taking place and the paths will be open. This Order will remain in force for a maximum period of 6 months or until the works have been completed whichever is the sooner. (Ref: T16366/MR)
