Lakeland, Temporary Road Closures Due To Highway Works

What is happening?

WESTMORLAND AND FURNESS COUNCIL (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE SOUTH LAKELAND LOCALITY)

(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF ALL TRAFFIC) (NO.17) ORDER 2025

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable highway works to be carried out ("the Works"), Westmorland and Furness Council intends to make an Order the effect of which is to prohibit all traffic (i.e. vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists), from proceeding along the lengths of road specified in the attached Schedule.

Suitable diversion routes will be indicated on site by the display of relevant traffic signs as and when the temporary closures are in force.

Westmorland and Furness Highways will ensure that local residents and the general public are informed of which roads are to be closed and when, nearer the time.

  • A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

  • For queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 373 3306 or via the Westmorland and Furness Council website. The reference to quote are detailed in the Schedule.

The Order will come into operation on 13th October 2025 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required for 2 months in total and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.

EXTENT OF RESTRICTIONS AND ALTERNATIVE ROUTES

  1. A6070, Milton - (Ref: TTROW/15875)

    From its junction with the A65, extending in a south westerly direction to its junction with the C5091.

    Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the A6070, A6, A590 and the A65.

  2. A683, Barbon - (Ref: TTROW/15888)

    From its junction with the C5080, extending in a southerly direction to its junction with the C5083.

    Alternative Route for Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A683, A65, M6 and the A684.

    Alternative Route for Non Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A683, A65, M6 and the A684, Sandylands Road (U856), Appleby Road (A685), and the A6.

  3. A684, New Hutton - (Ref: TTROW/15890)

    From its junction with Beehive Lane, extending in a north easterly then easterly direction to its junction with the U5636.

    Alternative Route for Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, Sandylands Road (U856), Appleby Road (A685), A6, A65 and the M6.

    Alternative Route for Non Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, Sandylands Road (U856), Appleby Road (A685), A6 and the A683.

  4. A684 Singleton Park Road, Kendal - (Ref: TTROW/15891)

    From its junction with Parkside Road, extending in a predominantly south easterly direction for a distance of approx. 1.15 km.

    Alternative Route for Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, Sandylands Road (U856), Appleby Road (A685), A6, A65 and the M6.

    Alternative Route for Non Motorway Traffic: via the unrestricted sections of the A684, Sandylands Road (U856), Appleby Road (A685), A6, A65 and the A683.

  5. C5031 Holbeck Lane, Troutbeck - (Ref: TTROW/16178)

    From its junction with the A591, extending in a predominantly north easterly direction to its junction with Bridge Lane.

    Alternative Route: via the A591 and Bridge Lane (U5561).
