Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

  1. To temporarily close those lengths of road in the City of Colchester, as detailed in the Schedule.

  2. To temporarily suspend the 7.5T weight restriction on that length of The Avenue/The Cross/Colchester Road, Wivenhoe, from the junction of Boundary Road to the junction of Belle Vue Road as cited in the

    “The Colchester Borough (Rectory Road Etc., Wivenhoe) (Weight Restriction) Order, 1984” for the duration of the closures only.

The works are scheduled to commence after 2nd October 2025, as stated on a valid permit. The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The roads will be closed to facilitate each phase and then re-opened to the public. Access will be maintained for emergency services. Diversion routes will be signed at each location and residents will be informed of the dates of each phase via letter/leaflet drop and advanced warning signs on the road.

The closures are required for the safety of the public and workforce while gas main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Workhouse Hill, Boxted in the City of Colchester, from a point approximately 220m south east of its junction with Green Lane for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 20th October 2025 for 3 days, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03166316715 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while stop tap replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via Green Lane, Boxted Church Road, Holly Lane, Queens Head Road and vice versa.

The Order will come into effect on 2nd October 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Compton Road, Colchester)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Compton Road, Colchester in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Ipswich Road for a distance of approximately 30m in a south easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th October 2025 for 1 day, or where stated on a valid permit (AD03766285009/SM/1 – Anglian Water). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while excavation works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

An alternative route is available via St Annes Road, Dilbridge Road West and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(Holly Lane, Great Horkesley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of Holly Lane, Great Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Boxted Road for a distance of approximately 230m in a north easterly direction. The closure is scheduled to commence on 8th October 2025 for 2 days, or where stated on a valid permit (K414ORF5I773467-RC – Gigaclear). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new duct lay works are undertaken by Gigaclear.

An alternative route is available via Holly Lane, Boxted Church Road, A134, Boxted Road and vice versa.

The Order came into effect on 18th September 2025 and may continue in force for 18 months or until the works have been completed, whichever is the earlier.

(School Road, Little Horkesley)

(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2025

Notice is hereby given that the Essex County Council intends, not less than seven days from the date of this notice, to make the above Order under section 14(1) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Effect of the order:

To temporarily close that length of School Road, Little Horkesley in the City of Colchester, from its junction with Holts Road to its junction with Vinesse Road, a distance of approximately 1330m.

The closure is scheduled to commence on 9th October 2025 for 5 days, or where stated on a valid permit (EP201EH2387835 – Essex County Council). The scheduled dates may vary for these works with appropriate signs showing and/or displayed on one.network. The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

An alternative route is available via Holts Road, Workhouse Road, Vinesse Road and vice versa.
